Cashmink

I was not aware that Brandt had something like this. I usually pass right by this brand. Is this worth looking for?

I don't consider myself overly confrontational but this would have put me over the edge. I would have made a stink about it until I got it for the lower price. You tag an item then you need to sell it at that price. Having said that we also have a willow tree nativity and $50 is still a great deal. Sorry you had that problem.

Wouldn't this be considered price gouging? And isn't that illegal?

My favorite conversation at goodwill was when the clerk exclaimed about the Cartier sunglasses I was about to purchase for $15.00. "I bet we could have gotten $30.00 for these!".

FYI for anybody who has Levi's stores in their area, just picked up 2 pairs of chinos for $10 a piece. Obviously not the same kind of quality as most of us are used to here, but not bad for beater trousers either.

Speaking of repricing...several times I have picked up nice stuff that did not have the classic plastic color coded stem from the racks, only to asked if this was a "Botique" item at the reigister. The item then goes to the manager who inevitably wants $20 or more when its priced.

Also after going to the trouble to match the proper pants back up to the jacket for a suit, found myself explaining that these should not be "priced separately" even though the stems were different colors on the pants and the jacket. Fortunately the manager sided with me on that one.

I think Arnold Brant is still a pass in terms of construction and brand recognition. Unless you have the Cap'n's magic.

I usually just find a suit hanger and put the pants and jacket back together and take it up to the register. It's never not worked for me. Even when the tags usually say "2 piece".

Clerk: "Ray Bans? These should have been priced up, eh fuck it"
That's how I got a pair of Ray ban wayfarers for $3

Mid century NYC bespoke tailor, navy cashmere, black astrakhan collar. Just gotta do something about the unusual button pattern and add a little shape (n/a)

Wow that's really messed up.

I never let on to anyone that something I found is special. If they comment on a thing, I just say stuff like, "Yeah, I thought it was a cool color!"

I think I just experienced Karma Thrifting.

There is a small charity run thrift store not far from my office.  I have donated there several times because its close and the volunteer ladies that work there are always nice and so glad for a donation.

Today I decided to thin out a little inventory that I didn't want to sell or things I regretted buying and a few of my old things.   I dropped off the donation (got my tax receipt) and decided to check out the store.  I have thrifted there a few times, but not in the last month.   They told me everything in the store was 50% off.   As I walked in, I saw a guy taking a nice coat off the rack and walking straight to the checkout.   I casually walked up and looked and it was a Barbour!   I was very irritated because if I had not stopped to leave my donation, I probably would have beaten him to it!   But, I swallowed my irritation and checked out the store.

And here is what I found:

Daniel Cremeiux with Loro Piana Fabric

Hickey Freeman

More Cremeiux LP

More Hickey Freeman  Alpaca and Wool

More Hickey Freeman

Even More Cemeiux LP

AND even more Hickey Freeman

ALL from that one store.  Everything was 50% off.  The suits were marked $20 (so $10 with discount) and the SC were $12 ($6 with discount) PLUS they included all the nice wood suit hangers.

PLUS, these Halliburton suitcases.   I have been searching for a Halliburton Briefcase, but this is actually a smallish Suitcase.  Still these goes for $$$. I am not sure what to call the other case.  It is not like a train case.  It is much taller than a traincase.  I have never seen this shape before.

At an estate sale a couple weeks ago, I found:

I'm still trying to divine the mysteries of Patagonia.  Are short sleeve Patagonia Shirts a Thing?

I don't usually mess with Women's clothes because my wife does her own thrifting and selling.  But, this caught my eye.  I wouldn't have bought it except I saw the price tag.

Aside from the watch appreciation thread here, the best place to try is a watch forum such as watchuseek (or just google watch forum) and ask the Omega enthusiast forum. They're the only people qualified to give you an educated opinion w/out trying to get up to speed on vintage Omegas (a daunting task).
