The official thrift/discount store bragging thread - Part II (Return to the Thunderdome) - Page 1785

Nothing to see here.  Move along.  Eh, really not much today.

Thrift shop:

Worn and dirty JAB blazer...

But I think I can do something with the buttons:

Buffalo Exchange:

Estate sale:

Couple old-timey bird cigarette dispensers:

Just the bags - the shoes were WAYYYY over-priced:

This is an early 1900's Chimayo with a whirling log motif.  Spoilered to explain first: for those not up on the history of some stuff, this is not a swastika.  The symbol / design is over 5,000 years old. EDIT TO ADD: I have no intention of keeping this - strictly to flip...

Did you read why it's spoilered? (Click to show)

"Girl You Know It's Spoo"
Of course, the imagery of him singing this while wearing that Versace shirt and holding up bottles of beer like in that photo on Ibiza completes the scene.

Yea, me either. But it's fun:

Tony Orlando and Spoo
Spoo and Tennille
Herb Spoo and the Long Island Brass
Spoo the Wet Sprocket
Red Hot Chili Spoos
The Talking Spoos
Spoo at Work
The Beastie Spoos
The Spoo Milkmen
D.J. jazzy Spoo
Depeche Spoo
Van Spoo
Twisted Spoo
Spoo Riot
Counting Spoos

Spoo Live Crew or 2 Live Spoo should be the winner.

Would Vote for "Spoo Live Crew".

And that Newspaper is perhaps one of the most Historically significant items ever posted.:worship:

New guys take note. this thread is about the extreme significance of items as much, if not more than what some schleb on Ebay is willing to lowball us on.

We have some serious history buffs in here. and nerds on almost any topic.

At this point I think the original gist has been lost and, while some entries have been amusing, perhaps we can retire it and go back to infighting and name calling?

Right impuntura you big goon?

Hahaha! ha? (please don't squash me)

Just wondering, if Spoo did make a band. . . perhaps other members could play in it? practicing at home, and playing a gig in  a small bar as a meet activity?

would be interested to see it.  just thinking out loud.

this band thing was fun, but over now, I think (please). the only instrument I can play is the skin flute.

I just took a 4 hour nap. That was a new one. Thanks, bottle of merlot.

@impuntura that jacket is pretty amazing, congrats. Are you keeping?

Work brag here...on Friday, got to watch Bela warm up for a private event from backstage at the Ryman and hang out by his dressing room listening to him play for fun. Dude is very, very good.

Oh and congrats @ChetB !!!

Skin flute...hah. They say Beethoven liked roses on his piano, but I prefer tulips on my organ.

Spruce: great patterns on those Samuelsohns. Nice stuff.

Spoo: I didn't read your post at first and was so confused when I saw the tat. I'm like, did he really put his own name on his arm? Or make his wife brand herself? It was a weird moment.

That Thom Browne looks a little funny.... I want to go out on the limb and say it might be fake.
