<------ I'm very fond of gifs with people taking off/putting on sunglasses. That's my favorite GIF of all time. That dude is a boss.
Yeah, considering that's in your size, I'm jelly. Almost all the jackets would need a good bit of tailoring to be my size and decent tailors ain't cheap here.
Big lunch hour today which became lunch two hours but we'll worth it.And then we had the big boy. . Wait for it. .It is truly beautiful and unfortunately does not fit me. So, it is heading to SPOO with the rest and may end up in is closet but if not, coming to a SPOO auction near you.....
So if you're like me, you watch the thriftening and wonder...could it ever happen in my area? Why can't it be me? Well my friends, your time will come. The thriftening is real. Then it got interesting. Then the money shot:but still the best thrifting day of my life.Domenico Vacca by Attolini SC, Brioni sick blue DB SC, 3 x Kiton 14 micron Blanc Blu suits (two SB, one DB with peak lapels). Another look: Everything is my size. Wut. $20/each Kiton suit, $10 each SC, trous were $5-7 (Tom Ford were $5). Here's what I left in the store: Another pair of Sutor Mantellassi loafers, about 10 pairs of Bally loafers (really not in good condition surprisingly), about 20 Camicissima shirts (no resale), and maybe 4 dated Oxxford SCs. Camped out but no ties ever came. My theory on that is that maybe they went to a different store - you guys might remember a couple tie hauls of about 20 each that I posted a few weeks back, all pretty insane stuff. And with those hauls I left behind about 80 other ties (mostly Robert Talbott and lower). Not as good as @silverwarebanditTHE THRIFTENING WILL HAPPEN TO YOU.Story: Casually walked in to one of my standard lunchtime spots. Saw they had rolled out a new rack that had not been sorted and hung yet. Went up and the first thing I flip through are all of the Camicissima shirts - about 20 of them, most solid whites and blues. At the end of those were the RRL and Scotch and Soda shirts. Knew something big was happening and went straight for the suits. In the year that I've been hitting this store, I've only pulled one suit - a decent J. Press. I typically don't even look through the rack because there's nothing there. I flipped through about 20 suits and didn't see anything, then my fingers felt like they touched magic. When I pulled back the lapel I see the 14 micron tag and I knew what I just landed. I instantly whip out my phone and start texting my brother that I just found a Kiton suit (something I never thought I'd see in person). As I'm texting him my fingers touch more magic - the other two Kitons in a row. I look inside and see that they're Blanc Blu and am ecstatic. Was hoping for more in the suits but nothing - went to the rack of sport coats next. Found the Domenico Vacca by Attolini quickly, then nothing but three or four dated Oxxford SCs. Was disappointed. I HATE looking through pants but knew I had to do it. Got into this donor's size range and it felt like every pair of pants I touched was amazing. Just filled my cart up without even looking at condition of everything. So excited to see the pants were my size and flat front. Paid (no returns) before even realizing that I forgot to check condition - but got home to see that everything looked fantastic. Felt sure that in the next day or two there would be tons of ties, but nothing ever came unfortunately.
