I think some of the only Hermes ties that are worth $100+ in excellent shape are the super "Quintessential" Hermes ties, that are Orange and White. I sold one awhile back for $129 and it was Orange with White chainlinks. It sold somewhat quickly. There's also some of the more "whimsical" prints with animals, etc that are worth a decent amount... But generally most Hermes ties are worth about $30-60.

Preferred tie brand and why? I personally am a fan of Brioni, I just feel like the quality is allll there. They're nice, and thick, and just tie a stellar knot.

For wearing or for flipping? Totally different answers

For wearing: Robert Talbott (BOC, Estate, or 7-Fold) - I am a bigger guy and I like a substantial tie that is durable and holds a knot. Plus, at their second-hand pricepoint (who pays retail?), I don't feel bad if I destroy one or give one away.

For flipping: marital aid quindici or venticinque - No explanation necessary

For target practice: Charvet - You literally have to wear gloves when handling some of the woven ones or they will spontaneously break out in pulls and runs.

E-Thrift, sooooooooooooooooo pleased with this cop n' pop.
Snagged these BEAUTIES off the bay for a killer price. You do not see these come up often (like ever), and when they do, they're unwearable. In pristine deadstock condition. Notice '25PSI' on the gigantic air bubble; back when Nike used to individually pressurize the air bubbles according to running pressure points. Crazy.

I don't own any but am always super impressed with Hober. Charvet ties a great knot but definitely accurate on the fragility of the wovens. Would also gives Drakes a mention.

I like Canali, Brioni, RLPL, and I know I am going to get **** for this, but the Joseph A. Bank Signature ties (the nice thick well made versions) NOT the executive cheapos, are actually really nice ties. They are long enough for me, they are thick and provide a good knot, and they don't snag if you look at them the wrong way.

I have never had a Tom Ford or Hermes. I am hoping that they aren't completely awesome because right now I don't know what I am missing.

Most of my favorite ties are vintage and not necessarily popularly recognized brands.
