The official thrift/discount store bragging thread - Part II (Return to the Thunderdome) - Page 1457

Worked this morning, and the whole time had that feeling about a store I haven't been to in over a year. I am glad that I went.

That's a strange way to use a shopping cart.

Hit 10 stores today and came out empty handed at 9 of them. Worst run I've had in a long time. Shoulda known better. I have awful luck on these big sale days.

Only luck I had was at the Filson outlet. Got a red chambray Cruiser shirt for $29 still on the website for $195 and a blackwatch wool Mackinaw cap for $16.

Here's some stuff from Wednesday that I just got around to taking pics of.

If anyone can give me some more information about the model names or anything, especially the Louboutin's I would appreciate it.

Paid up for each, so hopefully they're legit, they looked good to my relatively untrained eye, nice stitching etc.

Also going out of your comfort zone by spending money on expensive shit that you know nothing about and are just hoping are gonna be real, is not how you grow, that's how you wind up losing a lot of money. Doing your homework and learning shit is how you grow. This leads to informed decisions, and less to no money loss on taking gambles. Or at least this is what I've found to be true and works for me.

Trust me man, I appreciate that, I was hoping to have someone drop some knowledge on the subject w/r/t telling fakes from real. It was a gamble, but not an entirely uninformed one, all of the typical signs for higher end stuff is there, stitching, etc.

Dudes dropping knowledge is how I learned to spot fake Hermes ties which has helped me numerous times. All in all just trying to spur some discussion.

I just reread what I said and it seems to be in a tone that is quite dick for a lack of a better term. I didn't mean it to be an asshole, I just meant that doing this takes time and it takes money and the best way to utilize both to their best potential is know what you're looking for and what you don't want. Undoubtably, errors will be made, trust me, I made a ton in my day, and sometimes I think it may be necessary to take a gamble in this game cuz otherwise an item wont be there. I was just generalizing, thrifting blind is a very easy way to discard a lot of money straight into the trash can, so just probably stating what you already know, absorb and absorb. But congratz on the shoes, I had the opportunity to pick up 2 new pairs the other day and chose not to do it until I figure out what I'm gonna do with all the women's I have now, but looking back it was dumb, shoulda pulled the trigger....but unless you live an alternative lifestyle, I'm assuming you'll be flipping those, and some brand new black Louboutin heels should net you a healthy profit.
