The biblical plague continues.

Ventured into 2 stores today, solely because I was doing other stuff. Nicest thing I saw -- and I **** you not -- was a Banana republic glen plaid car coat. I mean, sure I grabbed those AE blutchers and dated Paul Stuart ties. But literally nothing on the suit racks. NOTHING. It's unbelievable.

completely recognizing this is not the right thread for this but since you say you want to learn, and this is my last post before i pass out :

i think the jacket and the pants work just fine together, albeit a wee bit big in the shoulders as evidenced by the divot but you are in motion and i think its generally fine. the shirt/tie/ps triumvirate is off though. its too much "geometry". The beauty of creating a harmonious palette is balance of many things - color, pattern, texture - and of course, fit. Address it like a math equation - A + B + C = success. The stripes in the shirt are too similar in distance to the plaid in the jacket. If you were to wear stripes with that jacket, they must be a tight, micro stripe or a faint stripe, but I would suggest a solid shirt. The tie, while certainly awesome (******* cats with paisley tails! Yeah!), its not coherent with the outfit and comes off dated.

If I were to change two things on this outfit, Id put you in a solid blue shirt for color balance and a spotted foulard twill tie. The pocket square should be a muted paisley if you want to spice it up and should be lighter in color than the jacket and the tie.

Make sense?

Look -

1000

plaid + solid + stripe + spot

1000

plaid + solid + stripe + geometric

1000

plaid + solid + floral + bicolor

see the math I mean? pick one from each pool, make sure the colors in harmony, make sure the textures are in harmony, and boom. Hope you see this is 100% my opinion only and not intended as a knock, i have nothing but big love for you  and only offered it as you said you wanted to learn.

XO
Actually, this is exactly the kind of feedback I wish I was getting over there. I could see from the picture that the tiendidn't really work. Most of the people in that thread are happy to tell you what's wrong but hesitant to explain how or how yku should go about fixing it, so a big Thank a you to you, bro. This is incredibly helpful.

Was in the field today, but dayum the Goodwill in this city charges at least $30 for ANY suit. Left a bunch of Hickey Freeman suits and a BBGF suit. Also, the HF suits I left were not fully canvassed. These are all fairly recent HF mainline suits. Another good suit maker going down the drain?

It was not that way when I had every store there in a 1000 mile radius on ultimate lockdown!

@Versace Guy, HF has different lines just like anyone else. Their mainline is fully canvessed, but the offer half canvas options, like the Lindsey line (which, btw, I just scored a gorgeous silk/wool/linen windowpane int rh Lindsey line that I love.) they don't do it because they are going downhill, but because they want to offer diffeeent options at different pricepoints to people. Some people like more drape. I think HF has upped their game tremendously in the last 2 years ir so, at least from a style perspective, if not construction. I've absolutley drooled over some of their newer jackets.

The ones I saw had the recent white letters on gray background label. It wan't HF Collection, or Ltd, or anything like that, just Hickey Freeman. I also saw some HF suits at Neiman Last Call, same thing, not fully canvassed

Nah brah. When I was in that same city, I used to live one block away from two of the only Goodwill in the city, and worked right next to the other one. I was THE Goodwill patrol.

Taking advice from over there might actually blunt your style. you got a good thing going. And Spoo has casual fits on point. real advice is better than trying to paint the black sheep white, so to speak.

Speaking of deerskin....I saw a deerskin tie made in Nee Zealand at lunch the other day. I left it because I had no clue if it was worth anything.

Reading this thread has made me wish I hadn't flipped some of the amazing things I have found prior to finding this thread. Many many things could have made many people so happy. Love the togetherness this thread embraces.

Damn, LP leather. :worship: I've yet to find anything beyond a shirt by them.
