B&S used to be the most epic of places to get deals. I mean epic deals. All of us old WAYWRN guys used to do closet unloads there for peanuts. Once the site switched over and you couldn't bump threads anymore, that was the end of that. Man, it was the wild west back 5 years ago.
I cant even give **** away ever since the new format took over.

One is a small metal trinket box, feels like copper. The other item im not sure what it is, Nautical Megaphone?

Not sure because I can't tell if it has a hole in the other end, but it kind of looks like a Turkish coffee pot.

Hi guys, first time posting. I've been thrifting for about 5 years and lurking this thread for close to 6 months. You guys definitely have your act together and I've learned quite a bit from you all. I look forward to plugging into your community and getting to know you. Here are some of my recent finds.

Okay, I'm really a trad guy at heart but I've read a lot about your denim finds so I've started trolling the denim racks and usually don't find anything...but I saw these this weekend, didn't have my phone on me so I wasn't sure they were anything but took a chance. Not exactly sure what I have here:

On the flip side, not all items are created equal. I hate it when I list a NWT shirt or something for a stupidly low price and get a bunch of messages like, But I saw a stained thirty year-old shirt from the same brand on the eBays for FIVE DOLLARS LESS! (Also, I have no posts or feedback and could you ship that to Singapore? For free?)

Ha! true enough.

sure, if it's in a buyer's best interest to make incomparable things comparable, they will, including i guess those rascals from Singapore. That's part of the reason i block international buyers.

as a seller, the only thing i worry about is how does an item compare to a stack of bills. maybe i'm an outlier, i actually like to offer value and lately i've had good luck with my buyers being reasonable.

as a buyer, per @Nobleprofessor , it's definitely thrifty to window shop through multiple marketplaces, including brick and mortar. Sounds like B&S isn't what it used to be, but hunting is what we do, no?

...and the wheel continues its turn...

SPOO is right, that was crazy fun amd very, very profitable.you had to be there to understand.i used to unload a dozen items on there daily,at very good profit.

This may be true, but I have to tell you, I lurked there for a long time and could never figure out heads or tails of it. The time investment to find anything of any quality or figure out what the hell anything cost was just disproportionate. Who the f had that kind of time?

Well, you guys, apparently.

But anyway.

I think another exacerbating factor is that B&S has now become a victim of its own success. It's TOO good; TOO slick. Professional sellers move in. And the interface even subconsciously encourages the rest of us to goose our prices. Net effect is buyers go elsewhere. And the whole place is dead.

(Maybe it's just a CM thing? SW&D prices seem to have stayed the same).

I think that may be because there's a narrower, more unified range of pricing for SWD stuff, but that's just an outsider's observation.

No poppin' tags today, but I did pop open the two Tumi TSA locks that were attached to the luggage I recently picked up.

Took about 650 combinations

I kept the new combo much more simple.

Also <10% ruled these yesterday for personal use:

Lots of finds on Tuesday. Unfortunately, most of them were left behind. First there was this heavy-ass coat. Missing a button, but it was the inside label that caught my attention. Was I right to leave it on the rack? (sorry for the awful, over-exposed tater pics)

Also, left one of these behind because it was horribly dated. Hated to do it at $9.99.

If dated, leave second one but pick up the first, I would.

that was exactly our contention - that it lost the mom and pop feel of a community garage sale. and we were right. i have to dig up the thread if you feel like reading about our contentions with the new format, but we were all mostly right, from memory.
