I guess not much has changed for me since the 80's.

How many pairs of shoes do you guys have? I'm curious because I feel like I have too many, yet at the same time, not enough.

It made me remember a discussion about the "total look"

All four dislike the idea of head-to- toe designer dressing. Van Noten explains: 'The 'total look' fashion of the Italians and Japanese is over. Fashion is about mixing nice shirts, sweaters and jackets in a way that suits your personality, not following the dictates of designers.'

@LA Guy I imagine that they made it public to discourage email and phone contacts.

As an Alden dealer, I can tell you that we get at least a half-dozen calls each day asking what Ravello & Whiskey styles we have in stock (which is none). Alden of Madison must get many times that, and it probably takes a significant amount of their working day to respond to all of this.

Hey Mike,

Do you have any Whiskey styles that you can hook me up with, man?

jk.

I understand, but it still sounds like a bit of a knee jerk reaction.  I imagine that they are under stress, like a lot of retailers, and it's easy to sorta lash out a bit like this, with the message being "Hey, be a good customer, that's who we hook up."  This is pure speculation, but it would not be an unpredented move, just based on the messages I've seen other retailers putting out.  It's understandable, but not advisable, imo.

I would go further, and to say that it's preferable to mix complete styles of clothing.
