It was supposed to be a sort of multi-media, multi-field creative agency. Basically a bunch of people getting together and innovating in different fields. Donda was the name of Kanye's mother, who at the time had just recently passed away.

Obviously a very loose concept, as you can see from his chart above.

Honestly, I like Kanye's ego/ ambition/ craziness/ whatever. He's obviously a super talented guy, so part of this is just marveling at someone who's both insane and plausibly also capable of pulling off some of the stuff he talks about.

if you go 53 million in debt while doing it, does it count as pulling it off?

Depends on how fast you file for bankruptcy protection and how motivated your creditors are.

IDK why people keep sticking to the 53mm in debt. It doesnt mean he's broke. With the kind of cash flow he can bring in, its not as big of a deal as people think it is.

I think it's an open secret that he's always broke. He's crazy and blows through money with no regard to his income stream.

When you think of how much a normal income family is in debt (house, car etc.) and scale it up, it's not THAT bad and often times it make sense to borrow over using your own money.

I imagine a large chunk of that is from the Yeezy collections. A lot of that is being self-funded, even if Adidas' name is on it.

Pastelle must have cost a pretty penny as well.

Honestly, with cost of capital being what it is right now, its actually pretty smart (assuming that if he didn't self fund he'd have to give Adidas/whoever a much higher premium)

He's a talented performer, saw him two years ago on v day. After playing basically the whole yeezus album he went into a valentine rant about how much his fans must love him for putting up with all his shit blah blah, nothing negative but hilarious, he then went into a full set worth of his classics from every album he's made, played for almost 3 hours. All the while full on theatrics, mountain stage that lifted into the air, margiela outfit changes, live MPC, full band, Tony Williams singing backup, backup dancers etc etc it was like a hip hop show goes to broadway. Definitely seen better, but he was one of those big acts you see where the ticket price was actually worth it, which I think is rare for big name artists.

Non-Kanye fashion thought - Taichi Murakami stuff looks really cool/nice; but price tag is pretty high. Anyone here handled it/have any experience with it?

I've only seen a few pieces. Definitely very innovative, with a focus on materials (recycled stuff, tyvek, ramie). Some of the tyvek made the clothes feel a little weird / super crisp, and the fit can be boxy or just roomy in some places. Pants are probably more consistent, cuts are similar to M.A+ (maybe I say this just because he used to work there) but there's more formal cuts in crisp materials (ramie, nylon) and jersey/sweatpants comfy stuff. It feels kind of like Schieder, where you have to experience it in person to really know what's up.

But also @nicelynice and @magicalporks are going to do some reconnaissance ~~soon~~.

Thing is though, with all the lights, the people, the music, the money, is it any better than a decent £5 dance party in a basement somewhere in Brixton?

Probably not.

Kanye is the best. Who cares about the weird shit he says or twitter? His music is great.
