Can anyone comment on the living costs per year for an international grad student in Sydney or Melbourne? Including food, rent (reasonable distance to campus under 2-5km)

How do the costs compare to major cities in North America?

Tuition would already be insanely high compared to Canadian standards though

Sorry if this isnt the appropriate thread

Cost of living very high, comparing it Nth America I'd say Toronto/SF/NYC/Vancouver type. Sydney is one of the most expensive places to live in the World, Melbs isn't far behind.

I am from Sydney but I would say Melbs is probably a better option for students.

To compare a few things based on my last visit home to Syd:

Aus Milk - $4.50 liter

US Milk - $3.00 gallon (3.78l = 1gallon)

Aus Bread - $4.00

US Bread - $1.99

Petrol is also about twice the price if not more.

Rent in Syd - my brother pays $550/week for a pretty small 2 bedroom. My other brother bought a house for $560k that needed a ton of work and is about 40 mins from the CBD.

Great, thanks.  Really enjoyed working with the maker.  I wear the pants a lot.  The weather's been too warm for the jacket, although that's changing soon.

What would be the point/purpose/goal/whatever of "rubber coated calfskin" on a pair of boots?

Would it just kind of wear off and fade? Kind of like waxed denim or something? I was looking at those because I thought they were patent leather at first glance but now I'm just curious as to why this would be a thing.

I dunno about those, but my wife has a pair of rubber coated guidi boots. The "rubber" is more like a waxed coating and it looks pretty cool as it fades off
