Very random indeed. In terms of food, Boston is a full lap behind New York, LA, San Francisco, not to mention cities outside the US, but... whatever. If not, check out The Middle East for random shows
Thoughts on London so far:
Day 1) Man, people here kick it UP a notch from standard American dress. Real shoes, outfits go together, hardly any technical jackets, no square toe shoes. This is great.
Day 30) How boring, everyone is wearing one of the same four "urban uniforms:"
- Business suit + black or dark brown leather shoes (or chelseas)
- Semi-casual with trench coat
- Casual rocker with flimsy moto jacket
- The Barbour gentleman
Re. your thoughts on London - this is why I actually prefer "non-stylish" cities. There are more idiosyncracies. People who dress fashionably are doing so both for themselves, and without the limitations of a physical tribe, and at the same time, an imperfect understanding of the tribe with which they identify. These things lead to all sorts of oddities, some of which work, some of which don't work so well, but it's always interesting, like the hipster girl I knew who also wore a ton of Ed Hardy tees completely unironicially.
