I'm thinking more like a poppy version of a fleur de lis

Cool, can't wait for la jet tee x Colaver...

Co laver means cow doing / cow pooping in Danish.

Cow is spelled with a K though, but its the same sound.

I thought laver means to make not necessarily to make poop

And we're an American brand so that wouldn't mean anything to us

Like every other word it has at least two meanings. Just to increase the likelihood of misunderstanding.

I'm sure it will result in lots of shits and giggles if you end up retailing here.

More retail impending doom chatter

I've heard DSM in ny isn't doing too well. Barneys coop in Georgetown shuttered it's doors and Madison Ave was struggling for a while.

And now jil wagner who wanted to build an empire is probably going to find totokaelo going out of business. The retail space is really nice but rent is 150k a month or so and they have no cash flow because of poor sales. I am still shocked she decided that opening a store in NYC was a good idea...

Wait, is $150k/ month the real figure? That seems crazy.

I could be exaggerating. The building is valued at $21M now and is 8000 sq ft, even if going by a conservative estimate of $85/sqft/yr that's around $56k/mo , I wouldn't be surprised if the rent is much higher per square foot though it's one of if not the most expensive retail markets in the world.

The original Totokaelo space is nice.

There are spaces on Maiden Lane that are much smaller that are $100K/month.

That said, yes, it's crazy.  If Totokaelo brought a unique thing to NYC, that would be one thing, but really, Totokaelo was special only for Seattle.  There are any number of similar boutiques in NYC.

Every B&M retailer I've talked to recently has been saying that even when customers are local, they prefer to buy online.

I think that Jill Wagner started buy her own hype and to become too cozy in the rather insular Manhattan fashion circles.  Both are dangerous to financial health.

Is Totokaelo located in an area like Maiden Lane? The stores on Maiden Lane are all big luxury brands like Hermes, Montblanc, Prada, etc.

Opening a store in NYC doesn't seem that crazy to me. Or at least, if it is, everyone is making the same mistake. It seems like any time someone opens a new shop in the US, it's in NYC.

Probably a should I/shouldnt I buy esque post but fuck it. Are these Margiela jumpsuit...suits a good idea? I feel like it would suck to feel hot and not have the option of taking the jacket off
