Well. To be honest I think there is no malicious intent here, on both sides.
T4 has raised a very valid point in that there are significant technical / construction differences between the gold standard "pie-crust" / split and lift apron and round-closed split toe combination, versus the raised lake apron and "decorative understitch" toe stitch method that EB uses. That's the main idea.
On SkoaB's end, I think that even though some people might not be aware of, or even care about the technical differences and specific details, there is also a significant number of people who want to know exactly what they are getting.
I do think it's the retailer's responsibility to have good communication with the maker, and also disseminate information responsibly to the consumers. Especially through "official" channels such as the affiliate thread. I feel that by and large, SkoaB has done this, and shown that they are sincere in their dealings with their customers. I wouldn't say that they are blatantly guilty of deception or false marketing / hype.
There might be an additional ? language barrier between the retailer and maker as well here? I'm not sure.
Essentially, what I think can be improved here is timely / accurate communication, both between maker / retailer, and retailer / consumer. This is similar to the blake waist / "bombe" waist issue that caused some problems a few months ago. Technical details do matter.
T4 did exercise prudence by posting this on the EB thread first where the discussion could be more neutral. And i can vouch for him that his underlying intention is not to flame or discredit, but to discuss a valid concern.
All that being said, I am confident SkoaB will sort things out and provide a timely update.
FYI gents we have three in and just one more needed for a rerun of this awesome chukka - ya know ya wanna! Don't miss out twice!
