Enzo Bonafe Handmade Shoes. - Page 177

Hey Guys!
I'm organizing a GMTO over on reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/goodyearwelt/comments/50t2a8/enzo_bonafe_zug_balway_gmto/) for the Balway boot from Enzo Bonafe in an Oxblood/Burgundy Zug grain, which is an awesome super waxy and weather resistant leather. This is going to be through Solegarb and the tentative make up will be:

-Balway Boot
-804 Last

-gusseted tongue
-Horween Oxblood Zug
-Hand Welt 360 deg storm welt, trimmed close to the boot
-Single leather with Dainite
-natural Edge Finish (this isn't like other makers natural, its a bit darker and will look very good I think), or black
-Natural Calf Lining
-5 eyelets and 3 speed hooks antique brass

This is going to look like this Zug Balway Boot, but it will be on the 804 last not the 173, have a 360 degree welt trimmed. So this version will be quite a bit sleeker.

Cost will be $715 including delivery in the US if we can get 6 people.

Let me know if you are interested, I would like to get this GMTO in within the next week or two so that they arrive by Winter!

Hey Guys,

An update on the GMTO. Just a reminder that the Zug GMTO will be closing soon, so let me know if you want in! Going to try to get the order in by next Friday, so that we can get an early January, perhaps late December delivery. I'll be posting a final details/ last chance to jump in thread on Reddit on Monday as well. I believe we have enough to go through now with the GMTO, but I'm looking to get maybe 2 more or so as Solegarb will give us a discount if we can muster up 6 members.

Here are some photos of what this make-up will essentially look like (this is on the 804 last as well) the only real difference being that the welt on ours will be a bit more trim/sleek and we will have a gusseted weatherproof tongue:

Details are below:

-Balway Model

-804 Last

-gusseted tongue (very weatherproof)

-Horween Oxblood Zug (very, very durable and water resistant leather)

-Hand Welt 360 deg storm welt, trimmed close to the boot

-Single leather with Dainite

-black or natural Edge Finish (this isn't like other makers natural, its a bit darker and will look very good I think), this can be changed easily so I'm okay with just a majority vote on this next week

-Natural Calf Lining

-5 eyelets and 3 speed hooks antique brass

Cost will be ~$715 USD including US delivery.

Please let me know ASAP if you want to join in on this!

Looks great, but just wondering why y'all are looking for such a sleek last and sleek welt on a durable, hearty country boot?

I know trends are towards everything sleek, sleek, sleek, but I'd personally want a rounder roomier last on a makeup like this to accommodate thick socks!

Kind of thinking along the same line, more in terms of the gusseted tongue + single dainite.  I'd think you'd want a commando sole or at least double dainite.  I do like the concept of a heavy duty boot that is sleek.  It does look great.

Looks better on the 804 to my eyes.  A sturdy, rugged derby boot needn't look blocky, blobby or clunky.  There's certainly a place for that type of boot, but they needn't all look that way.  I love my 64 last Zug Galways, but I wouldn't want all my Galways on such a broad, chunky last.

Agreed. The boot looks great with normal storm welt. That sample pair is pretty much perfect. The beefy welt is part of an Enzo boot IMO.

@thatisgross, I'd be interested in this makeup. Please add me to those interested.

Couple questions for all:

1) Does EB use genuine leather stiffeners in the toe and heel?
2) What type of leather does EB use for its soles and what's the thickness of them?

Many thanks

I have to say I love mine so much.  One of the best black cap toes I've seen.

UPDATE: According to Solegarb, if we garner the 6(which I believe we already have), then we can split half and half if we so choose and be able to choose a 363MOD last if you would rather that and two others in the group also want that. Discount will still apply. So as long as we have a total 6, the order can split into different lasts if wanted.

1) Leather stiffeners for the heel, celastic toe

2) Not sure of the tannery, but I believe it's an Italian one. Holds up very well.
