I wish my feet would keep my 403s looking pretty in the toe box like you guys. Mine get all distorted along the stitching... I guess due to foot shape/flat feet. Anyone else have this problem? I suspect it isn't as bad with the 405s and other less stretchy leather models.

^Ive seen a lot of them look like this. I suspect it has something to do with the shoe being too big and creasing at multiple points when walking. I sized one down from Brannock and still find them quite comfortable, instead of the half that is commonly recommended.

Interesting. I'd have guessed it was the opposite problem (shoes too small). Alas they're a 6D, so I'll have to settle.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Are you using shoe trees? My 403s has multiple folds as well, but not as shown as yours. It might be fit/feet as well, my left shoe creases very differently than my right shoe.

Mine at 6 months old, okay I really need to step up the game on photos

Indeed I am using shoe trees. Mine are also 4-5 years old vs you 6 months. The creases don't bother me so much as the stitching just looks uglier when it's all splayed out like on mine as opposed to a nice clean arch on others'. I'm wondering if I should be taking a 6.5 narrow as opposed to a 6 regular.

The creasing on my Ultimate Indys is consistent with @kelpqq and the 403s that @SSingh1975 just purchased, especially the one large crease across the middle of the toe. Mine are about 6 months old and I do use shoe trees.

Cross-posted from the main Alden thread, my CXL Indys that got me into all this trouble...

Bought at Alden of SF six months ago, and already been to Japan and China among other places. Love'em, and wear them often...

They're looking great. Only a little bit darken, very nice color.

Thank you! I'd say the color has deepened more than darkened. I'm glad the welt has darkened though - it was so light when I bought the shoes.

Used some venetian cream on mine today..was able to get a decent 'sheen' (not shine).

Also, my laces from UK (amazon) arrived yesterday and I love it. It's not waxed but a huge upgrade over the 'cheap' Alden stock laces.

PSA: I have a pair of Snuff Suede Indys on Barrie last size 8.5D on B&S, it's quite a unique make up I just have a pair that's way too similar. Willing to trade for any Epaulet Indy boots in same size.

Who sells a really good 5mm waxed lace? What I'm finding out there looks to be (A) not very waxed (B) not very nice or (C) not 5mm (or sometimes all of those things...)

They've been through a couple sessions with Alden Boot Creme, but mainly I just wipe 'em down with a slightly damp cloth and brush them every once in a while.  I also brush them pretty thoroughly before and after every wear (which I do with all of my shoes).
