Banana Republic returns

Looking for feedback from anyone with knowledge on the subject. Have a few dress shirts from Banana Republic. Unopened, tagged, still in the wrappers, etc. I've had them over the 45 day mark but would like to return them. BR's current return policy is 45 days. I have a receipt. Just wondering ... what would happen if I mail the shirts back to them requesting a refund? Are they really going to go to the expense to deny the return and mail the shirts back to me or do you think they will just give me a gift card? (Gift card solution would be fine with me.) I have bought a lot of stuff from them in the past, so I would think they would want to keep my business. I know if I took the shirts to a store, it would be very easy for them to deny the return. Wondering if anyone has tried this in the past? Thanks in advance!

Why do you expect them to pay for your stupidity in neither buying what you want nor returning them promptly? Surely six weeks is enough?

My thought is that 45 days is not an adequate amount of time to return items for a retailer that tries to market as an "upscale", customer-friendly brand. We all know BR is not an "upscale" brand, but that's another thread. More customer-friendly stores like Nordstrom, Brooks Brothers, REI, etc. have much more generous return policies. Yes, you can say that I agreed to the terms when purchasing. However, I would argue that these are standard plain white dress shirts that will be of no trouble for them to resell. Not seasonal items by any means. I simply bought too many of them for my current work situation. The 45 day return policy is really aimed at those folks who plan all along to wear something a time or two and then return it. We all know that.

Your "thought" is nonsense. It's 45 days. Not 46. It's BR. Not Brooks Brothers.
You could try sending the shirts back and see what happens. But holding onto the shirts after the 45 day stated policy is stupid.
