Want to buy Loake 1880 Shoes

Hello everyone, I have considered buying a pair of Loake 1880 Burford shoes Black Calf, size 9 1/2 F UK (10 M U.S) . The two sites online that I am considering to buy the shoes from are Pediware and Herringshoes. Both sites have good reviews and reputations online for thier products and customer service. Both sites offer the shoes including shipping for under $300 U.S.. Pediware will even offer free shoes with the purchase of Loake shoes. Is this a good buy for the quality of the shoes and the price? I know that a lot of people are not big fans of Loake shoes, however , I need some help with this decision. Please anyone comments or advice. Thanks Camden50.

if you mean free shoes with a purchase of loake pair to be 2 for 1 under 300 dollars that is a decent deal.

i would not spend 300 dollars or anywhere close to it for a pair of loakes.

plal and pediwear are superior customer service sites, but loake is not a good brand name for 300.

shoe, thank you for your advice. I will take your comments under serious consideration. Now I have second thoughts on buying the shoes. What is wrong with the Loakes 1880.? From my understanding Loakes 1880 have Loakes better lasts and higher quality of leather. Can you give more detail on why you do not like shoes for the price I stated? Thank you Camden50

I'll think you'll find that the offer is for a free cedar tree shoe, and a silk tie of your choice, with any purchase of Loake's over £100 (not in sale).

If you choose a tie, it will seem as though you have been charged for it, as it is billed for the price in your basket.
When they do debit your credit card you will not be charged for it. They don't seem to have the software to deal with it on the site, however they are aware of the situation.
So don't worry about the basket adding it to the price of the shoes, you won't pay for it.

Necropost time:

What has been your experience with the Loakes versus Grenson and Tricker's?

Pediwear has the Loake Burford £165, Grenson Rushden Sharp (meh) £164, Alfred Sargent Dumfries £205 (meh), Barker Harrison £195 and much the more expensive Tricker's Stow, Malton etc. £295 (nearing C&J prices!)... Wish I could check them all out myself.

I have employed the search function and read some older threads here and on AA that seem to indicate that the Loakes are a bit stiff both uppers and soles. The Trickers are also much more substantial in appearance (invade France boots opined one). Anyone been able to compare/contrast these? The Trickers seem a bit pricey (and yes I know prices go up exponentially sometimes for even small gains in quality etc. but we're not talking C&G Handgrades, EG or Lobb )
