What is a Lemon Drop? I have a recipe for a Lemon Drop Martini - are they the same thing?
Basically, a lemon drop is vodka, lemon juice, and sugar.

I'm not to sure on the exact portions. I've had it in a shot glass and in an old-fashioned glass.

My ex always used to drink them and it seemed that it was lemon juice and vodka shaken and poured into a martini glass with a sugar rim.

Isn't it lemon juice, vodka, with sugar on top, and then you light it on fire so the sugar caramelizes?

Dear bar customer,

If you are a high maintainance douchebag and want to instantly piss off any bartender you come into contact with, please order a lemon drop shot or martini during any busy, high-volume night at the bar. Bonus points if you order a large round think leaving 15% or a few bucks is a legitimate tip for wasting a shitload of the bartender's time and/or turning his/her hands into burning, stinging flesh. If the latter is the case, please don't bother trying to order any more drinks at that bar, because no sane bartender will waste his time on you for the night.

Sincerely,

-Every bartender in existence.

To Every Bartender in Existence,

You are paid to sit there and make drinks. Do your job and be happy with a $1/drink tip.

I don't understand this sentiment. A martini contains two ingredients and an average bartender should be able to make one in his sleep. Even if a $1/cocktail tip is considered poor (and I don't think it is), it is more than counterbalanced by the $1/drink tip bartenders receive for removing a bottle cap from a beer bottle.

Lemon drop is: a lemon sliced and muddled in ice, small (if any) amount of simple sugar syrup, lots o vodka, Shake with ice, serve with a sugared rim glass. Personally, I prefer to have it without sugar in the drink as the rim is enough sugar to take a bit of the pucker off of the lemon juice.

So what, all bartenders can be bothered to do is open beers and top up a shot of vodka in a highball with coke?
