I really dislike horror movies as a genre, but I have to say that 28 Days Later is a fantastic film

I don't really get the awe surrounding The Descent. It was a mediocre movie. Nothing innovative or particularly scary, IMO.

excellent topic...

i know i am a grown man, but the one movie I still cannot watch by myself at night is

The Shining.

and even if i see it during the day with friends, the images still run through my mind and I won't be able to sleep at night by myself for that night.
thus one of the advantages to having a spouse next to your side.
she can shield you when jack nicholson comes with a bat!

Great names so far. Poltergeist Stir of Echoes (similar to "Sixth" but much better imo)

I think what made the movie scary was how they didn't utilize a lot of special effects in building the intensity. Instead, they focused on two very common fears: nyctophobia, and claustrophobia. Emphasizing both, by having the entire movie be lit by flashlight and flame. I thought it was really well done in it's subtlety.

Or maybe I'm just a pussy.

^^^ You really see "Cube" as horror?

I suppose so, the same way I see The 13th floor as horror.

+1 for the win There was a movie about a haunted submarine that I saw a while back. Quite good, and not just on a scary level, but I can't for the life of me remember the name. Anybody know?
