All my jacket lengths are measured from the base of the collar seam to the bottom of the jacket - ie. down the back of the jacket and NOT including the collar itself.

Price cut time! As usual, this is my only pre-eBay price cut.

1) 38R RLPL plaid overcoat down from 1250 to just 1100
2) 38R Polo moleskin down from 399 to just 350
3) 42R RLPL DB chalkstripe suit down from 999 to just 899
4) 46R Polo navy suit down from 399 to just 350

So you wouldn't say that the moleskin overcoat would fit a pretty standard 38R (i.e. is it too big for you)?

Depends on how closely you like your coats to fit. Check the measurements to be sure.

As you can see from the pic of me wearing the RLPL overcoat, I like my coats to fit very closely, creating a definite waistline. That's not to everyone's taste. I could certainly wear the moleskin (provided I was wearing a jacket) and it would fit the shoulders fine, but the chest and waist of the coat would be too large for me personally. I would find it too loose if worn just over a medium-thickness sweater

For me to have the kind of silhouette I like, I'd probably take a size down and just wear it over a sweater/shirt rather than with a jacket. Just my personal preference. I must also point out that while I'm a 38 in RLPL, I'm often a 36/37 in Polo. So take that into account too.

Bottom line - if you're Polo 38, I think should fit you, but it will be a less trim silhouette. If you're a Polo 40, it's also likely to fit you but it will be a much more closely fitting look. If you're a 39 (or a big fitting 38, or a trim 40), it's probably an ideal median compromise between those two styles.

Hope that's clarified rather than confused!

If you do take note of requests I'm desperately chasing a two or three piece brown glen plaid or small houndtooth or tick check suit in a 40R, three button. The one chorse is wearing in the WAYWN thread, leaning on the umbrella, is just perfect.

Here's hoping. I'm happy to wait a long time to get the right suit.

OK - situation update!

1 will be kept by me! Until I take it to the tailor though, I'm leaving the tags on so if anyone wants to make me an offer in the interim, feel free.

2, 3, 4 will all go onto eBay later tonight.

5 is already on eBay and ENDING TONIGHT IN A FEW HOURS. I know a couple of people missed it last time it was listed, but it will not be listed on eBay again!
