I've been looking for a new pair for two months now. Basically, they should be casual/somewhat dressy, (mostly jeans with an 8.25-9" hem) fairly short; around 6-6.5 inches, have a round (ish) toe, leather sole, 1.25" stacked leather/rubber heel, be some variation of brown (maybe tan), can be lace up, slip-on, or zip. (Not a huge fan of side goring though) and be around $250. I guess I could entertain the idea of a distressed suede, too. Any ideas??

I've looked everywhere for something like you describe with no luck.

My sarcasm detector is broken, so I'm unsure of this post. But the OP just described about every boot you see on this forum.

I suppose this is a joke? Are you parodying recent boot threads that I've somehow missed?

I didn't view it as sarcastic. When you add the fact most of us are very selective to the sizing/availibility issues that seem to be rampant, it is tough to find gear sometimes.

What does this mean? Red Wing, Frye, Barret, Varvatos are all readily available in all sizes. http://www.zappos.com

I didn't read the post as closely as I should have. I'm looking for something that is distressed suede and a softer construction. That has been impossible to find. I have a pair of frye boots that I like but they are too big and stiff looking if that makes any sense at all. I don't like how big the toe is and the way it's shaped. I know the perfect pair of boots for me is out there but I haven't come across them yet. I have a picture of what I want in my mind but I haven't been able to find it.

Where do you have boots made for $250?

Yeah, while it's a cool idea, it seems as if it'd cost much more than my budget.

I did peruse all 2,000+ boots Zappos sells. Varvatos are too steep, didn't see any Barret, and looking for something a little sleeker than Frye and Red Wing. I've already got my Brando Engineers as a "rugged" boot. I kind of like their Emmet (?) chelsea in brown suede, but the toe is too squared. I do like the Brando lace quite a bit, but I don't want black (although once worn they might work?) and the cognacs are a little too Timberland-esque.

Chukkas from Allen Edmonds or Charles Tyrwhitt at retail, or from myriad other makers if you look on ebay.
