FSorT: Ralph Lauren Wool & Cashmere Suit 42L?

I purchased a Polo suit that was listed as a 38R but turned out to be more of a 42L. It is made in Italy, and is a charcoal with pinstripes. It is for sale or trade for a similar suit in 40R.

Anyone interested?

I wouldn't mind seeing pictures if it is a true 42 L.

Those measurements are more consistent with a 38/40 long. I have never seen, despite how slim the cut is, a tag 42 with a 42" chest. There is always between 2-5" difference between the tagged size and the actuall chest measurements. Additonally the 32" wasit would make it a Drop 10

That's a 38L most likely.

Then the seller's measurements are wrong, because the suit is too big for me and I normally wear a 40R. A friend of mine who wears a 42L tried it on and it fit him well.

How exactly does one measure a suit? I'll measure it tonight and post measurements.

Chest: 42 Shoulder width: 18 Length: 32.5 Sleeve length: 25 w/ ~ 1.5 extra Waist: 31 w/ ~ 4 extra I don't get it. How could this be? Anyhow, here are some lousy pics (suit is not new):

It's not a 42. Based on the length, it appears to be a long and based on the chest, shoulders, waist, I would say 38, but could be a tight 40.

If that 42" chest measurement is accurate and it fits your friend, then he is NOT a 42L (unless he wears his suits 2 sizes too big, which is true of many people incidentally). Except for the length, it seems to fit you a bit big but not too bad. A 42 would be much baggier on you.
