I was giving suited a hard time for talking about "the liberal agenda" in the other thread, and this kind of thing illustrates why. There's no one "liberal agenda." There are a bunch of different agendas all shoving around within the big tent of the Democratic party. If anything, the Obama/Clinton wing is much more moderate than some of the others. Too moderate (and certainly too close with the business community) for the comfort of many of the more left-wing Democrats.

I don't have an issue with people in power getting their friends/beneficiaries out of trouble, its human nature and it happens across all religious/political/gender/race groups. If that disqualified people from holding office, there would be no one left.

My issue with fanatics, is that they are blind and unreasonable, there is no other way but their way. They seem to share a desire to "burn to the ground" whatever issue they are against, there is no middle for them. Similar to the current Wells Fargo issue, the banking industry's response to the mortgage crisis was a shoulder shrug and a punishment of very low level people (while CEO's kept the huge payouts they received while the stocks were shooting through the roof in part due to the huge mortgage boom) so I agree that more needed to be done. But I am not of the belief, like she seems to be, that we need to scrape the entire financial sector and start over.

It's kind of hard to tell with some of these politicians whether the extreme positions are genuine or a negotiating ploy. Having an extreme starting point can result in getting more of what you want than a more moderate starting point. If someone is scared you're going to destroy their whole industry, maybe they'll be more willing to accept regulation or fines or whatever.

"Mr. Obama has governed like a third-rate tyrant."

When people fill their writing with language like this, it is hard to take them seriously.
