Austin bars/clubs?

Turned 21 today so I'll be making the excursion downtown tonight with some friends and more in the coming weekends. Any suggestions on where to go?

Just walk down...what is it...6th St.? Stop by every bar and get a drink. There's only 500 of them. Enjoy

One of my joys in visiting Austin was seeing Matthew McConaughey at one of the bars on Sixth. He and his brother were absolutely hammered and being pretty entertaining. Pretty funny to read the next day that he was arrested that night for playing his bongos naked. Hate on the guy all you want, but in person he is hilarious and pretty close to his character in Dazed. The merits of still being like that at his age (although this was, I think, around six or seven years ago) are debatable, however.

All that aside, Austin is a great town to go out in. Avoid the chain-ey bars and hit up the dives, you'll have a good time.

On my 21st I went to Shakespeare's on 6th street. I drank a cement mixer and threw up everywhere. I proceeded to take my shirt off and got thrown out. Don't know if that place still exists.
