Dear forum,

I am going to be buying 2 suits in the next six months and need some help. I have a good relationship with my nordstrom sales rep and he called me about a mtm event special they are hosting where they feature canali (starting at a 2k pricing point) and a hart Schaffner Marx ( starting at 700). He is recommending getting a couple of the hart Schaffner Marx. I have liked the suits I bought from nordstrom before and have no real complaints on the fit. However, Recently I have had a ww chan suit made for me for me and I was exceptionally pleased with the results. I think they fit better and have a better selection but the suits start at 2500.

Have any of you had experience with hart Schaffner Marx and what would you do if you were me? Thanks in advance you guys are awesome.

I like HSM sport coats and trousers, I've never had one of their suits. Canal is great but Ive never owned anything from them. I'd rather spend the money diversifying my wardrobe than spend that kind of money on one suit, especially when it isn't bespoke.

Has anyone had any experience with HSM? Or have both ww chan and hsm suits? Thoughts would be greatly appreciated

The fit starts a little boxy, but hopefully with a well-fitted MTM product you can end up wiith a well-fitted garment. The quality of the HMX product is good - nothing to write home about, but also nothing to complain about. or $700, if it is a good fabric, that's good value.

How does Chan start at 2k? Their current base price is 12k HKD, which is ~1600USD

I'm not for sure what to do. I have no experience with hsm and I love my ww chan suit.

The suit I bought there must have no been the base level suit, but mine was roughly 2k.

The problem is that you are asking for an opinion that depends on a lot of factors and you have only given brands and prices. They are both good brands and to some are worth the prices they charge. What's your situation? I imagine that if you are considering a 2K dollar suit that you are not trying to build a wardrobe. Are you just looking for what everyone likes better? If so you aren't going to get a better idea of what's good for you What would I do? I'd buy the HSM suits. But that's the decision that's good for me. Without knowing more about your likes, preferences, and situation no one can give a good answer.

Caustic.

Thank you for your response. What I'm looking for is two modern fitting suits to add to the core of my suit wardrobe. Probably a charcoal and a navy blue.

Comparing HSM and Chan is almost like comparing apples and oranges.
Or a well-equipped Honda Accord and a Mercedes. I own neither HSM nor
Chan, but I've seen a fair amount of Chan on SF members at Meet-Ups.
IMHO, Chan is far superior in style and probable quality- but one pays for it.
