Issues with carrying Globe Trotter on-board

All,

I am a long-time lurker on SF but first time poster. I recently decided to upgrade my carry-on luggage from a Tumi to a Globe Trotter 21 inch trolley case. When I received my new luggage, I realized it is noticeably larger than what I am used to. And after measuring its dimensions, I realized it is outside the limit of carry-on baggage of most airlines (22" x 14" x 9").

So my question is, has anyone ever experienced problems with carrying their Globe Trotter 21 inch trolley case on board? Thanks.

I bought my daughters one each for their 21st birthdays - 3 and 2 years ago respectively. No issues with size. They go pretty much under the radar that way. The main danger is if you fly one of the airlines with a 7 kg carryon limit that weighs at check in.

That is interesting (and comforting) to know. I presume this is true whether you are flying coach/economy or business/first class?

Lol. Sadly my G-V is being refurbished, hence the question.

No problem with economy or business, but I don't fly with American airlines.

My carry on has never been "measured." When asked if I am checking any luggage, I just say no.

The UK airlines, particularly the budget ones now have boxes at the gate to check the size of your bag. Actually most now have 2 sizes, one is guaranteed in the cabin and the for other larger sized they will only take 100 of that size. With your bag being taken off you at the gate.

I’m very interested in the Globe Trotter as I fly down to London a couple of times a month and everything gets squashed in the soft bag I currently use. So want something that can carry

Forgive my ignorance but what brand is G-V

Thanks for the all responses. The 21" Globe Trotter doesn't have any issues with the height and depth. Most airlines allow carry-on bagagges of up to 22 inches (or 56 cm) in height and 9 inches (23 cm) in depth, which the Globe Trotter has no problem fitting. It is the width restriction of 14 inches (35 cm) for many airlines that creates issues, as the Globe Trotter measures to ~16 inches (41 cm). In the case of easyJet, it looks like they allow width of 45 cm, so there will be no problem. We were joking (or at least I think we were) about G-V. We were referring to Gulfstream V jets.
