I am a medical professional who will soon be starting a residency that requires formal wear as dress code. I will typically be working about 10-14 hours per day 5-6 days per week, mostly on my feet, moving around very quickly trying to get my tasks accomplished. I want something that is comfortable, professional, and can withstand the grind of a 3-year residency. The location that I am going has four seasons, but typically the temperature is regulated in-doors around 68 degrees.

I am looking for 2-4 suits and 1-2 pair of shoes. I hope to spend no more than $2500. I currently live in the south and my only real options for shopping are the small malls, outlet stores (including J. Crew, Brooks Brothers, and Allen Edmonds) and I live about 3 hours away from New Orleans. I have access to a Nordstroms, Macys, Dilliards, Belks, and Nordstrom Rack.

Given my price range and what I am trying to accomplish, can you please help with a strategy.

Thanks!

What could you have possibly matched into today that needs 2-4 suits?

Probably a cosmetic surgery residency.

Aiming for 3 suits and 2 pairs of shoes sounds like the right start. Anyway, how about first providing suit size and shoe size (length and width)?

Formal wear = White Tie. A suit or a tuxedo is not formal wear.

Avoid J. Crew. The Brooks Brothers and Allen Edmonds outlets should be able to meet your 2-4 suits and 1-2 pair of shoes for $2500 price point.
