Leather Winter Gloves -- What Color?

I'm about to buy a pair of bespoke leather winter gloves and am having trouble deciding on a color. I'll mostly be pairing this with a black pea coat. My instinct says I should pick black for versatility, but for some reason, another part of me keeps wondering how deep navy blue would turn out? Here's a detailed shot of the deep navy blue:

Your instinct is right. Get a nice pair of black gloves, especially if your outerwear is going to be black.

That deep navy blue looks almost black. Very nice.

I take the easy way out and bought a pair of leather gloves in black and in brown and match them to whatever shoes/belt I'm wearing. Yeah, I know ... I'm boring.

Get a black and a brown. When you've done that, you can have fun with the next 12 pairs!

I agree with 2 pairs, black and brown. Where are you getting them made?

Wow, the responses are overwhelmingly for black over blue! It's a shame because the blue is really growing on me by the minute.

HomerJ - I'll probably have these made when I pass through Italy sometime in the next few weeks.

As already stated, go with the black. If you get a second pair, definitely go with dark brown. Get your basics covered first before you branch off into a navy blue.

Just picked up some mauve nappa leather gloves lined in silk made by Merola for the French Alan Flusser, Marc Guyot. Very nice.

I'm thinking about this matter right now as well (though I won't get them bespoke). I'm inclined to say: Fork it and take the navy blue. Sometimes decisions don't have to be rational.

What are the benefits of "bespoke" leather gloves over OTR leather gloves, other than allowing you to say that you actually do have something "bespoke" in your closet?

OTR leather gloves do not have a good fit. They have rather baggy and overly long fingers.
