This question was put to me recently.

Do you?

I hear there are a billion or more people there. Now, one of them want to buy one of my sweaters.

How are the mails?

No I don't - not covered under paypal fraud protection.

I would take the rist depending on the buyers profile. I think I may even have hipped to India before.

I'd be careful about it, but I don't know that I would rule it out completely.

If I do, I would only take bidpay payment. Bidpay will cover the chargeback if the order is approved. On the second thought, I would rather not as I am very skeptical about the reliability of India postal services.

Recently I sold a Dior Homme suit and a LB sport coat to a Hongkong based buyer. I send them via USPS express international. It has been 8 days but the USPS online tracking still shows the package left O'hare on Oct 12th. I just put an inquiry on this item, but I don't know how much of luck I will have.

Based on my limited experiences, Japan is the only country in east Asia has very reliable postal services.

Does anyone ship to India via other methods: DHL, FedEx, UPS?

You can screen the buyer based on his profile. The question is do you trust India customs, and that doesn't matter which carrier you choose.

I find Hong Kong to have one of the best postal systems anywhere. I've sent tons of packages vis USPS and have yet to have a problem. There is always the occasion issue anywhere, I think. I sent a package to San Francisco from NYC on 10/6, it still has not arrived

I've shipped and received stuff. Registered Mail is what you should use to any "suspect" country. It is slow and pricey, but I've never had an issue and I've actually sent cash in envelopes to Brazil, Argentina, India.

++

Having worked in the shipping and freight industry, registered mail will be your only true and safe solution.

I hope you are right, Ed. It gives me some hope. I thought the package must had been stolen at somepoint because the customs form shows "a new with tag dior homme suit", and you know how popular the brand is in Hongkong.

The USPS online tracking shows "Guaranteed delivery date is Oct 15th". Now I hope the package is just stuck in the customs for whatever reasons.

Sorry to hijack the thread.

I like to use the rather expensive EMS for International shipping. It includes insurance.

Why did you write that on the customs form?

In retrospect it was stupid thing to do...but the description got populated into the customs form by paypal by default when I was processing the order via paypal. I should have altered it had I thought about the potential risks.

Everything that you ever send across international borders is a "gift", duh.

Yeah, that's like sending a bag and instead of writing "leather bag" you put in "Darjeeling Limited Edition Louis Vuitton bags", you are almost begging for someone to steal it

Seriously though, I'm sure it's just stuck at customs and that it will be delivered soon.
