Are your foreign ebay sales on the rise?

I've noticed a ridiculous increase in international ebay sales over the past few months. Seems like everyone is catching onto the horrible power of the US dollar in very real terms. For those sellers out there, are you noticing the same thing? I wonder if its if that I'm selling more internationally appealing items like shoes. But, I have to deal with all the headaches that come with it. I often fill out the wrong customs form, gotta go to the post office in person (for domestic I do 100% carrier pick-up), gotta make judgment calls on nonverified buyers, etc.

i answered 'No, less than before you dummy. '

not because it is true, but because it has the word 'dummy' in it!

I only sell a few items here and there on Ebay. I state in my description I ship to the US only, but plenty of people ask me to ship overseas. I don't mind if they have good feedback and are willing to pay extra. I have no idea why more people are asking me now than ever before.

Maybe you are a nice guy or you have good feedback?

Because the weak dollar makes it worth while buying in the US and shipping from US is not more expensive than within Europe .....

I've had less problems with buyers from over seas a more problems with buyers using hacked accounts asking me to ship to thier cousin that is "current living in Nigeria for the purpose of doing work of research". I've sold like 8 items on eBay in the past two or three weeks, and 4 of them have had winning bidders asking me to ship to Nigeria and then sending me fake paypal stuff (really bad, anyone who falls for it is a total idiot). And thats not counting all 15 or so of the bids I had to cancel on a cell phone I sold because people were bidding $1,000+ on a $300 dollar cell phone.

I've been wondering how to expose items to other countries as my sense is that certain items sell better in japan or london than in the US. Anyone have an idea on how to sell into those markets? Can I just list an item on ebay uk or ebay japan (if there is such a thing) for instance?

I've got a lot of bidders right now overseas (Italy, Germany) with requisite goofy correspondence. I got this one this morning which is currently pissing me off:

I chose the first option, though I don't really like your combination of the degree of increase and the assigned cause in one choice with the second option. I think mine are somewhat higher and I'm pretty certain the weak dollar is the cause.

I generally don't sell to international buyers outside of US/UK/Canada due to paypal not covering you for fraud in other places.

Mine are about the same, depending on which brand I am selling. Alden has always been popular with Japanese and Germans. The Germans like AE as well.

In principle I agree with you, but to do so at this time would reduce my sales about 30%. Sometimes I have 2 international buyers in a bidding war and bid an item up into the $100s, if not for them it would end at $20, for example.

So far I haven't been ripped off even once on international sales. Is that unusual?

I sold a pair of shell shoes a while back and two of the top three bidders were from overseas. I imagine the shoes would have sold for much less if I'd only offered them domestically. But I do worry about getting burned by an overseas transaction. If nothing else, there's just more risk of the package not getting to its destination.

Totally agree. I let international buyers to pay with paypal payment if they have impeccable high eBay feedbacks, otherwise I insisted on bidpay payment if I didn't feel comfortable to go through with paypal.

I had a case of fraud when I shipped to a verified german address and the buyers paypal account turned out to be hacked. Paypal took the money (that was paid to me) out of my account without notifying me and I had negative 350.00 or so on my balance. I was told that my seller protection is not covered in Germany and that I had 30 days to get a zero balance back in my paypal account or I would face fee's. It was a learning experience to say the least.
