I was dicking around Zappos when I stumbled upon these beauties: http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/28451830/c/126909.html

These three look exactly like the 875 model except in new colors. I have no idea what this Gentleman Traveler model is but it's ******* nice: http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/28451819/c/45106.html

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe they noticed the popularity of the model in the foreign markets and decided to bring it over.

Or they realized its dumb to make people in the US order from overseas a shoe that's made in the US.

I was in a Red Wing store in Reno, NV a short time ago. They were "sold out" of the Gentleman Traveller-------it sounds like the B&M Red Wing stores stock them, but are not available for on-line purchase (until zappos)?

The sad part about this is that the prices are still better if you order from cultizm.com. It seems like if Zappos decided to carry an american made boot, they could have at least made the pricing competative.

Zappos has carried the RW brand for awhile, just not the stuff SF members buy.

The new availability came up over on Superfuture this summer--can't find the thread, but someone communicated with someone at Red Wing HQ who said they'd be making euro-only models available stateside. Not sure what the bricks-and-mortar story is, although their stores have always had more than what's available online.

The "newly available" models are pictured on redwingcasuals.com under heritage. I believe their authorized online retailers (inc. zappos) are supposed to carry those models as well, but zappos is the only place I've seen them.

I would imagine that they could have any type of sole you want for the right price.

I forget if it was here or SuFu where someone posted black 875 style boots with a custom leather sole. Beautiful.

I have three redwing stores within 5 miles of my house and none of them carry any of the 'good' ones.)911,913) They don't even have 1 shoe with a crepe sole which I thought was weird.

^^ that sounds somewhat weird.

All you american guys with good RW store availability should get 866s! Pretty certain that stores that have 875 should have those aswell. Ive been looking for them in my size for quite some time, but no luck. Seems like a pretty perfect boot imo.

Non-sleek, elongated shoes have their place in a man's wardrobe - see the recent threads on Alden Shell Cordovan Longwings over at MC forum for proofs. I don't get the appeal of their "Classic Lifestyle" 875 model either; but the Lumberjack in Briar Oil Slick (w/ commando sole) and Gentleman Traveler (1911) look friggin' awesome.

esp if one wears lots of denim/cord/tweed. I don't think those kind of bottoms look their best with a sleek/elongated shoe and just cry for something beefier
