Proraso, where can I get it now?

I bought a bunch of it when Target had it, I am very nearly out of it and I am hooked and do not want to go back to the shit foams and creams that I used before.
Any one know where I can buy it, or something very similar to it?

I like the strong menthol and the high degree of lubrication.

Not the advice you are looking for, but why not give the mama bear stuff a try. Really cheap and really good....

Sue is really friendly and very responsive to questions...you might ask her if she has anything like Proraso. My favorite MB soap, though, is Hydrogen.

Yes, classicshaving.com is a great place, qedusa.com also carries it. I've ordered stuff from both places and service was quick and they are very helpful if you call for advice or suggestions. BTW, I' getting ready to order this beauty from classicshaving. I just have to rationalize why I need another straight razor.

I 100% recommend Sue's soaps. Pretty much all of it is excellent, and there's more scents than you could ever use in a life time.

That being said, though, she doesn't really have one that matches the Proraso scent/feeling. So if you're looking for that eucalyptus/menthol smell, go with the Proraso.

You don't need another one, but that's really beautiful. I can't get up the gumption for a Thiers-Issard, but I'd love one one day. <sigh>

Strangely enough I have all the razors I need at the moment. Still have a few waiting for restoration.

As for soaps, you might look into The Gentleman's Quarter (thegentlemensquarter.com). I've used her soaps and they are exceptionally good. I've heard good things about her creams as well.

Where would one go for restoration? I bought a Gillette one that has the buttefly opening, and I'd like to have the opening and closing be crisper.

Oh and Bigelow's has Proraso in their store, so I'd guess they'd have it online.

It is actually the first brand new razor I've purchased, vintage ones are much more interesting but this one really caught me eye. They do last a long time though. I have one that was used by my grandfather and then my father used it for about 30 years until he gave it to me. They really do last a lifetime.

I'm not sure if anyone offers that sort of mechanical restoration on vintage razors. Far as I know you need some pretty specific tools, and there's a high risk of damage not just to the finish of the razor, but to the body of the razor its self.

It's best just to polish it up, and soak it in mineral oil after it's all clean. It'll still big a bit floppy, but everything will be smooth moving. That's easy enough to do yourself with some scrubbing bubbles, rubbing alcohol, MAAS/light polishing compound, and mineral oil.

I get my Proraso from Amazon.com

I also like Musgo Real. Similar to Proraso, and also available on Amazon.

Don't know if you've tried the Proraso pre-shave cream. I use it and like it a lot.

I'm using just straight razors lately, so restoration is within my skills and means (buffing and re-honing). I think restoring a butterfly razor is possible, but not worth the money, since you're talking about replacing parts that may no longer be available. No wonder the DE users brag about their pristine finds.

As for Proraso, I stocked up at Target - found two stores that hadn't been hit so I'm well-stocked. However, they've introduced an Aloe-Green Tea formula (not yet in the states) and I will be looking for it next time I'm in Rome. I understand it's every bit as good as the green tub, but without the menthol. I may need a separate suitcase for the Proraso alone.
