looking for a place for a winter vacation - high season about $800 a night for suite or villa. prefereably all inclusive type of place. good beach is the single most important thing. not feeling too crowded is the next.

thanks

I went to Barbados a couple years ago and enjoyed it a lot. Let me try to remember the name of the place.

There's a really nice Meridian in Bora Bora. They have huts right on the water with glass floors or beach villas (or huts, you'd have to check). You haven't mentioned whether this is a vacation with the wife or family... Bora Bora is more of a couples resort imo, but it's something you could look in to. It's not as crowded as the more common touristy places because it's more expensive to get to and the resort itself isn't cheap. There's nothing worse than a crowded beach imo.

family - got a little windfall that we have decided to spend on a winter vacation. specifically looking for western hemisphere - don't want to fly to asia pacific with the kids.

we were in cartegana last year and loved it, but it should be more crowded at the time we are looking, and we were hoping for someplace with even better beaches.

Go to one of the kid-friendly Club Meds. Punta Cana (Dom Rep) and Ixtapa (Mex) are your best bets. It's going to be crowded during high season but there is a tradeoff between seclusion and having a kid-friendly environment and activities you have to make.

agreed cartagena is great, I insisted that we put our new colombian office there over bogota(it is to cold) or BQ. It helped give me reason to setup a houshold there.

take a look at playa blanca in Panama it should not cost that much and it is grounded it would only be for the weekends. Not true it would dpend o wen you wish to come in novermeber you have alot holidays which can be bothersome( for work and pleasure) tey ave thestupid law here that on certan holidays one cannot serve or sell alchohol.

as anoter option there would always be Roatan.
costa rica will probably be more than your budget and crowded.Guate same thing. Honduras.... they have yet to eliminate malaria except on roatan. Nicaragua is a possibilty, that price point and beaches are worth it. I just do not know of any opened resorts in the area, but here 2 or 3 in development. I had a household set up there for less than 1500 usd a month. Note when i say houshold I mean a driver, cook, and maid and the cost of the apartment (renting, I only stayed 2 months there.)
your best bet would proabbaly be Nic or panama

I loved Petit St. Vincent in the Grenadines...small island, all-inclusive, ultra-private. Check out the "flags" service at your villa.

You should take them to Cuzco. The elevation is 3400 meters so they'll probably get altitude sickness if they exert themselves too much and you won't have to chase them.

I loved Cuzco but the first few days are killer (so was LaPaz - several times). Climbing a flight of stairs was exhausting and we'd have to go nap right after breakfast. I wouldn't plan anything until at least 3 days after you arrive. The Inca Trail is awesome though - have fun!

If you don't like the crowded feel, an all inclusive package would defeat that, no?

Not sure where you're flying from.

Turks and Caicos is a nice alternative and just a hop/skip/jump from MIA/FLL.
