Alternative to Milk

Anybody have suggestions for milk alternatives other than soy? The only thing I can think of is almond milk. I'd like something to pour over cereal on occasion and add to shakes.

I agree - I prefer it to soy; IIRC there is also hazelnut milk. Almond milk is good.

Does rice milk require as much processing as soy milk? I believe almond milk is just blanched almonds pureed in water. Is rice milk similar?

Thanks.

would Lactaid suit your needs?

Goat milk (but never tried it myself).

Why no soy milk? There are many varieties, most are sweetened but some are unsweetened. It's much better in cereal than rice milk.

Vanilla or chocolate soymilk ... Just saying . For your all disdain, pouring little bit of it over cereal on occasion does no harm.

Hemp milk can now be found in the US. It comes from Canada.

I considered that, actually. If I can find a reliable source that doesn't use growth hormone, I'd love to try it long term. I drank it every once in a while as a kid, and I remember it tasting not-too-bad.

Heh... you're probably right, but I've dug myself far too deep of a hole to climb out of now. Besides, I have too many anti-soy bumper stickers.

You can get milk from anything with nipples. Anyway, I drink Lactaid or Rice Dream or Soymilk in that order of preference.

A few years back I discovered soy and I think I overdid it. Soy milk, soyfoodstuffs, tofu, etc. I subsequentlly noticed a drastic change in certain of my estimable abilities. I researched and found that soy was a phyto estrogen and switched to rice milk while avoiding soy foods. My abilities returned to form ...

I chocked it up as a lesson learned.

I don't know if rice milk is a great idea for diabetics.
