Lately, I have been listening to the new Kanye West - Graduation album. I really, really like it. Been listening to it almost solid since it came out and I'm still not tired of it... Today though, I actually bought a new CD based on the suggestions of the great folks on this forum. I've been trying to diversify my listening so I went with the album everyone said was an essential for any Blues/Jazz collection.. Miles Davis - Kind of Blue How is that for a transistion? Kanye West to Miles Davis I actually only started listening to rap since I was trying to diversify my listening before ( used to listen to the Statix-X, Rob Zombie, etc type ) and I read that an essential album for any rap collection was Nas - Illmatic and I have been listening to a lot of rap ever since (about 9 months) ... so I have a feeling that Jazz could have big things for me in the near future.

It is. Steve claims it's a 'personal' record, made after falling in love w/ Allison Moorer and NYC, where they have made their home. The Dukes do not play on it. I like it better than Jerusalem & Revolution .....

Highly ecclectic mix right now.

Rob Thomas - solo album
Chicago (except for the 80's stuff)
Michael Buble
Maroon Five
James Blunt
Sinatra
almost anything from the 50 and early 60's
and some Bach & Mozart for good measure

I keep a folder called "other stuff to pay attention to" in my laptop's mp3 collection for when I DJ. I change the songs out every couple of weeks, so this would be what I'm listening to lately.... and the new Strung Out CD.

Band of Horses.
Last year's Springsteen album, 'Devils & Dust', bought on a complete whim (haven't listened to anything by him since I was in Jr. high).
Sigur Ros.
Beck's 'Sea Change'.
Jose Gonzalez.
Some dude named Ulrich Schnauss.
Tom Waits every few days.

Mellow stuff, mainly.

Listening to Cat Power and Elliot Smith today. Also, listened to St. Vincent a bit after having my friends buy tickets to her shows in Dublin and London. Pissed I can't fly over for them though.

Britney's new album, of course- it's fucking amazing! A little 80's pop, a little early 90's techno (ish), very danceable and an overall great product.
