I saw them play live in Melbourne in 1980 a local Jazz radio presenter came on stage and said 'prepare to be experienced' HMOG it was one of the very best jazz concerts i have ever seen. At the end people were in shock, standing around in aware, a sax playing friend was mumbling to no one in particular 'i quit I can't play' over and over then went home hung his tenor sax on the lounge room wall for a year and didn't play it. I witnessed people crying out of joy it was truly a mind boggling phenomenal show.

Right now Kraftwerk The Man Machine

Your friend's reaction doesn't surprise me at all. Both Jarman and Mitchell were amazing players. Would have loved to have seen them in 1980--they were a seriously hot live act at that stage, no doubt. Good story & thanks for sharing!
