Through some of the publicity around the documentary Sugar Man, just discovered early-1970s folk rocker Sixto Rodriguez -- an absolute diamond in the rough, Rodriguez never made it big in his native US, though he apparently reached audiences in  South Africa and Australia.  Great sound, and the rare sort of musician who can write songs about struggle and societal ills without undermining their artistic value.
