This album has aged so much better than anything from that whole scene.

What about Gun Club? Not that they were directly related to that specific scene, but LA bands (and their entire music scene for that matter) are uniformly crap and make me sick to begin with. I have my reservations about GC, but some of their stuff is pretty good.

I love Gun Club, but I wouldn't put them in the same genre as GNR. Gun Club is more of a punk band with rockabillly and blues influences, whereas Guns n Roses is straight up LA hair metal.

Yeah, and that's why I said they weren't necessarily the same "scene", I was just commenting on my personal belief that all  LA bands suck shit, and only G n' R and Gun Club slide because I don't absolutely hate them.

 

Eff' LA.

 

Off the top of my head, I would say The Beach Boys, the Minutemen and X as other good LA bands. Never cared much for Black Flag or the Germs, but they have some cred. But yeah, the 80s Sunset Strip scene really gave the city a stink. GNR was really the only one of those bands that stand the test of time IMO
