The definitive live performance of Gotta Serve Somebody.

Also, the definitive live performance of The Words Get Stuck in My Throat. The words really do get stuck in his throat.

I returned from two weeks in a small town in the middle of the UK, London, Milan and Bologna. I was surprised how I heard classic American 50's jazz, early electric blues (T Bone walker), later smooth sounding big band kinda stuff, some rockabilly and even classic show tunes where ever I went (pubs, coffe shops, wine bars, cool retail stores & restaurants) . No classic rock. No MTV stuff, no lounge/chill and no rap (well I guess there were a couple of rap songs but only a few). It was like the UK and Italy were totally into this pre-rock'nroll thing and totally into a classic American sound. Most of it was pretty smooth and cool sounding.

It was really nice! It inspired me to get out my 50's Blue Note recordings again for the first time in a decade. I may try and replicate more of it by researching that period of music.

Gus, try the new AudioWave CDs as well if you like digital sources. Those are well done if you need a more portable format. Of course, if you have original Blue Note LPs then those will be hard to beat.

Listening to Brian Eno's new album today. So good for a rainy, wintery day.

I'm in a music rut. It's been about 3 weeks since I've come across a new album that I really liked. I've had unsuccessful run-ins with Lo-Fi, opera, free jazz, country, and neo-soul.

And just to clarify, 2010 has really sucked. There are I think there are two albums from this year I've listened to more than twice.

Rhetorical question.
