Woke up yesterday with Don Henley’s “Heart of the Matter” in my head. I ignored it when it was first released since I wasn’t a fan of his solo stuff and thought the arrangement too overly produced. Listened to a bunch of versions & covers on the web last night. I found a couple of acoustic versions which I vastly prefer and focused on the lyrics for the first time. It’s now one of my favorites.

The Stone Roses...their b-sides were better than their second album.

What I'm listening to now...mostly Davis/coltrane/Monk

I'll be at the LA show, it's coming up quite soon....better check my tickets.

After a long time, I re-listened to The Replacements' "Pleased to Meet Me" and am now hooked (again).

Also, The Essential Little Walter and Luscious Jackson's "In Search of Manny."

I've really been into The Pipettes from UK

3 girl harmony chick band, sort of a modern version of The Shangri-Las, very 60s oriented sound. And all 3 gals are pretty damn cute too!

Pipettes are fun.

I've been listening to R.E.M.'s "And I Feel Fine: THe IRS Years"; Kevin Drew's ridiculously long-titled new thing; the new Weakerthans, and consequently old Propaghandi; Radiohead's In Rainbows; and the new Band of Horses. A lot of good new stuff to digest.
