When vanilla is pure, it's the best flavour of all.

The Carpenters: We've Only Just Begun

Paul Williams writes a jingle for a bank commercial. Richard Carpenter hears it and ask if there's a full version. Williams lies and says yes, then rushes home to write it. The rest is music history.

^^ Sorry, Sugar Sugar was Saccharine Saccharine.

Watching the Andy Williams Christmas Special with the Osmonds. Forgot that Williams was married to Claudine Longet, infamous for shooting and killing skier Spider Sabich in 1976.

Claudine Longet from The Party.

Please. I saw the Monkees live (and possibly The Turtles though that was during my peyote days so it may have just been an actual turtle with musical chops) and while I liked both bands, they got nothing on this:

The Monkees were a product, a machine for making money, they did have some good people writing songs for them and Mike Nesmith is a talented musician. I know they came to Australia but I was too young to see them.

Basically I can't see how The Monkees would would mix with peyote maybe Jefferson Airplane? That I can understand.

Actually the George Benson version is better

As for the Carpenters tragic in the extreme. Now if you want to talk about Carole King.

Other bands loved The Monkees. They were fun guys.

Going to bed, so here's Paul Williams and John Denver singing "Drift Away" which was written by Williams brother.

Nice. George Benson is under appreciated as a jazz guitarist… so good.
