New year new style

First of all, I hope to lean some new facts about clothes that I never knew before by being part of this group. Second of all, a lot of these designers are unfamilar to me, or out of my price range, but I would like to "dress the part". I'm a pretty standard Polo (button down, or knit) shirt wearin', Khakis and Cole Hann, kind of guy. I like the look just fine, and I'm probably the best dressed of my bunch of friends, but I'm looking to find quality clothes of this same style that can't be spotted a mile away, and isn't so damm popular w/ the masses. I think I've taken my first step by buying some Alen Edmonds shoes on eBay. Any other suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks
