Synthese originally proposed the Scout 1035:

The Echo Boot

Model: Scout
Last: 1035
Leather: Guidi off-white calf leather
Eyelets: 7, blind
Midsole: White edge paint
Sole: Wedge, mini-ripple (cream)
Other: Unstructured toe, pull tab, off-white waxed cotton laces, tonal stitching throughout

But on the updated proposal, it is now the Service 2030:

1. The "Echo Boot" by @Synthese - inspired by Hoth.
Model: Service boot
Last: 2030
Leather: white roughout (or off white, TBD)
Leather (tongue): white smooth
Eyelets: 7 white
Sole: White mini-ripple sole
Comments: unstructured toe, plaintoe, white edge paint

Was that a typo or did Synthese change his thinking about the boot. Doesn't the original vibe change with a 2030? It doesn't seem that the narrower toed 2030 would be closer to a sneaker as Synthese first wanted....

Is the above proposal changes what we saw on the first mock-up by kindofyoung? I liked how that looked.

Thanks

Both. The original idea was the 1035; after talking through it with Fok it sounds like a 2030 is maybe the better option.

The model is a typo; that should say Scout Boot. So, really, it should be this - hopefully clearing up the confusion:

1. The "Echo Boot" by @Synthese - inspired by Hoth.
Model: Scout boot
Last: 2030
Leather: Off-white smooth Guidi leather ("bone")
Leather (tongue): white roughout
Eyelets: 7 white
Sole: White mini-ripple sole
Comments: unstructured toe, plain-toe, white edge paint, tonal stitching, pull tab (smooth bone leather)

So, the last: again, the idea is to make a boot that is reminiscent of a sneaker, but also something sleek, that might reflect and complement the design of a poorly-patched starship. I think the 2030 matches that well (and really, I think the almond toe suggests a sneaker shape a bit better), and should look really cool (and wear in well) with the more supple Guidi leather. The single piece of roughout as the tongue is a nod to the material in service use - the boot would be lined, aside from the tongue, so the roughout tongue (the white viberg roughout you see on their site) will ensure comfort all-round - and a cool contrast. Pull tab - don't know if that made it into the original post, but I like that it suggests something a bit more casual and streetwear-based; and, for those of us with a dislike for tying laces, it's useful.

Thanks for clearing that up...

I only own a 1035 but if you both feel the 2030 is the way to go here, who am I to argue...As long as it's off white Guidi, I'm in.

Should turn out to be a pretty rad boot.

I'm willing to do with this boot whatever the majority decides, but knowing the leather (we did a makeup using it already), I'd go with either the 110 or at very least, a rounded toe last like the 1035). That is a stylistic decision, of course. If you want it to eventually have a gothy-ninja or "ye old beat up oxfords" look. then the 1035 with tonal stitching would be a good combination. If you want the boot to look like it does in the picture, 110 with contrast stitching.

i could definitely entertain a 1035 last on the waxed flesh.

I think Fok could answer your question about timeframe best...Fok? Stickydonk and I are thinking that the best look for this boot would be a brown harness leather along the lines of this: It's a great classic heritage workboot brown, it will look amazing on this build with the vintage cats paw heel and vibram 700 sole!
I'm in for this.

Same - I originally backed 110 but I'd like a sleeker look for the office. Other waxed flesh guys how would we feel about 1035?

Notre is taking preorders for their 2030 waxed flesh service boot if you want a sleeker option. Email them for details.

I'd be in for #23 with 8 eyelets and partiall structure.

Has anyone checked to see if harness leather is available? I know for a long time it was not.

No, I haven't checked. Figure it's Viberg...can't they get any type of leather!?!?
1) No one checked with me, which is who you should be asking. If Guy tells me yes, then it's a yes. If Guy tells me, not someone else, just me, no, then it's no.
2) Viberg can get a lot of different types of leather, but unless you use things in stock or scheduled to be delivered imminently, you are looking at a 6-12 month wait for the leather alone. Factories also have buying schedules. That is part of the process, and often the longest one.
