Hey,

That's not a record number. We are always with 23+ suggestions. However, even just looking here, I can see that some guys post up something, and there is just no movement behind it. We will go to the same "vote with your $$$" with just 6-7 makeups. In that round, your votes have to be.... bought! That is, it will be done through the store. You pay $20 towards the makup of your choice, and that $20 is refunded only if your makeup does not make the final cut, or when you buy the makeup for which you voted. This prevents tirekickers from mucking up the works for those with serious intent!

Right now, the bison, the echo boot, some version of the brown waxed flesh boot (looks like in a 110, unclear whether tonal or contrast stitching), some soft of navy service boot, the "Half Japanese" (not sure what to make of the name) 145 Oxford in a slightly more upturned last, and if the guys who want it can get their stuff together, something in the 310 last (seriously guys, this would be an interesting change though it's not my personal style, so pull it together), and maybe a service boot in olive leather, if I can get that, are all in the running. There is some Galway-esque country boot that seems cool and have some sort of following as well. Again, we'll see about the leather. Have I missed anything?

Cheers,

Fok.

Fok.

Once you open up the coin deposits I will cast my vote$.

Yeah, "Half-Japanese". I hear ya. But isn't that referring to Vibergs stylings in the Japanese market?

This ability to get a boot the way you want it completely blows my mind. What a country(continent).

This boot will look great in mocha oil tan matte leather

...the "Half Japanese" (not sure what to make of the name)...

"Half-Japanese" because it's a Japan style work oxford, but with a half sole (rather than than more common wedge sole). Also happens to be the name of one of the greatest bands ever, but that's just a bonus.

Yeah I took it that way, "half japanese" to be more of a play on the japanese market and Jad Fair than anything related to race...

Anyhow that's where my $$ is going :slayer:

Well, I meant my comment as a joke. But I did learn a few fun facts.

This round seems creatively very strong. Last round I was prepared to buy in but there was nothing I found interesting - I teetered on the edge of the bison but now I can't remember why I didn't go in for it.

Make-ups I would strongly consider buying: #1 Echo, #8 Hudson Bay, #14 Olive Oil, #23 navy service, possibly #2 Bison this time.

Make-ups I probably wouldn't buy personally but think should get a chance to get made: #5 Half-Japanese, #19 My-God-It's-Full-Of-Black, something on the 310.

Having just looked through the list of 23 in the first post I can see what Fok means - there are some make-ups that have a very strong individual identity (e.g. Echo) and then in some cases there are two or three make-ups that revolve around the same ideas but aren't going to get made if the votes are split, so their proponents need to hash out the differences and come up with a single strong concept if they are going to get anything (off the top of my head 7-8-9, 6-11-13).

14. Olive Oil
Model: Service Boot
Last: 2030
Leather: Olive Calf
Leather (tongue): brown
Eyelets: 8 brass eyelet
Sole: Dainite
Comments: captoe, partially structured, brown midsole oiled (like wings and horns)
The leather is somewhat dark, rich and complex. Rather than the contrasting, natural midsole, I opted for a tone on tone look. 8 brass eyelets rather than 7 because its a finer leather than cxl or latigo.

or this

11. Waxed Flesh Service Boot
Model: Service Boot
Last: 2030
Leather: brown waxed flesh
Leather (tongue): brown
Eyelets: 7 vintage brass eyelet
Sole: Dainite
Comments: plain toe cap, unstructured

Hi Fok,

Just a correction - #7 and #8 are the same boot, my Galway-inspired makeup.

Let's make the Valway (can I call it that?) happen too! I think it'd be a really cool country stomper - something of a mid ground between an English and American work boot. Appropriate for Canada!

Scattered over the past several pages, I have counted 5 or more for the 2030 and only 2-3 for the 110. A lot of comments re the 110, but few who said they were actually going to buy it.

Looks like we need to have some further discussion to bridge this decision.

A wider last is better for this makeup. I've always been against the 110 in past discussions but if the inspiration is the photo that's been floating around this thread, than it needs to be a wider last. Don't get me wrong I love the 2030 but 110 is just a better last for this makeup. IMO.
