In this brutal elimination round, the above are still all viable, but the frontrunners are, in no particular order:

1) Echo boot
2) HOF Tan bison boot on a min ripple sole
5) "Half Japanese" 145 Oxford in ebony latigo
23) "Blue boots" - navy latigo on the 2030 last
11) Skinny brown waxed flesh boot
13) Fat feet brown waxed flesh boot

And then, all in the running, but with no obvious stand out,

Something in 310, though that crowd seems to have gone completely silent re. getting to consensus, right now represented by "dirty martini", which I think is not a great name for this boot, but whatever.
Canadian Galway/Hudson Bay dandy
Blue collar garage boot
Olive oil (which I am deducting grades because people keep on asking for 8 or 10 eyelets, when I have clearly indicated that you have the choice between 7 and 9 eyelets).

But.. more will fall before the day is done. If you feel that something has been overlooked, post it in the thread.

Cheers,

Fok.

crazy week with on boarding a couple of new employees have kept me off the site more than usual...

I am still really interested in a 310 boot and think it would be a cool addition to some of the other offering we have done. I'll try and rally some troops on specs and see what we can come up with.

Id be in on the Hudson Bay Dandy if the shaft could be a wrought. I already have 2 Galways with country calf shafts so this makeup would be too much overlap for me personally.

They're definitely well worn and i dont think many of us interested will really baby it. What's great is that we can wax it to start the process all over again.

Question about this because I've never owned waxed flesh before...the nap becomes inconsistent like this, right?

So do you just put more wax on it to get it smooth again? And if you do, doesn't it get wax all over your pants? Seems messy to me - trying to wrap my head around it.

There is no waxy hand feel to it compared to something like a waxed Barbour jacket. The best way I can describe it is that the "wax" chips and rubs off with wear, revealing the roughout underneath.

You can apply wax to the high wear areas like below but I think it looks terrible.

Ugh, I want to like it because it seems like #6 isn't going to get made if we don't get more vocal about it. But it just looks so messy to me. Don't get me wrong, I love it when boots get broken in and distressed looking naturally. But the inconsistency in look that waxed flesh gives just doesn't do it for me. Looks like something a homeless person would wear (no offense). It's not perfectly imperfect like plain leather, it's almost over the top. Not to mention the need to keep applying wax. I don't know...maybe I'm missing something here. We have two pairs of brown waxed flesh on the list and no plain matte brown leather, save for #6.

Please pardon my ignorance for the following sizing post.

Being a man of shorter stature (5'3 sadface), I have smaller feet so sizing boots usually worries me. I'm always worried about how proportional they look compared to my height so I have to worry about getting smaller sizes and proportion. I have a pair of Alden plain toe boots in size 6 (Barrie last I believe?) that I love and they fit / look proportional. Before and if I put my money where my mouth is, would anyone be able to lend me advice for sizing / length of identically sized Viberg / Alden boots? For reference, I wear size 7 in Nikes, 6.5/7 Vans, 7 New Balance.

I apologize if this is the incorrect place to post this, I just thought it would be relevant to my interests.

/cheer for #11 and #13!

I'm definitely partial, but I think #13 is what you're looking for. Pointy boots like the 2030 usually make short men look like they're wearing clown shoes.

I'm not 100% sure how waxed flesh ages, but I guess you can keep it smoother by using a suede brush like this one: http://www.hangerproject.com/brass-suede-cleaning-brush.html

Every piece of waxed flesh is like a fresh canvas. All of the wear is unique to you.

You also don't need to apply any wax. I certainly will not with my pair. I personally think the contrast between the worn and unworn parts is what makes waxed flesh so awesome.

Can I ask what other boots you own that make you call the 2030 pointy? Not causing trouble really curious as I keep hearing about the pointy 2030 and I own two pairs on it and I do not consider either pointy. My Vass and Allen Edmonds certainly are pointy if you will ...even much of the Carmina, Edward Green and C&J I see are pointy. Outside of my Alden Barrie lasted Boots I just do not consider the 2030 pointy.

Again not trying to be a jerk but I think if someone does not own the 2030 they may be scared into thinking it is similar to a dress boot.

Here are some to compare with...Just to give an idea if it helps anyone..Two AE's and a Vass at the bottom...Viberg is the black 2030...I chose the least pointy AE models I have in boots and the Vass as well...

It is (or can be) similar to a dress boot. Here is a photo of the 2030 compared to a 2040:

2030 is on the right. I don't think some people realize how pointy it is, especially when comparing it to a traditional work boot.
