Whats a good place that delivers to the USA and has a website, Ive been to a site before that was mentioned in Details or Esquire. They apparently had some of the best Beglian chocolate somewhere in belgium and would deliver to the usa. Made fresh everyday...they refused to deliver if the carrier is unable to overnight it.
Anyone know who this is..i forgot
or any other really good sites to order from belgium

I can't really help. I got chocolates at a shop in toronto that were delivered from belgium in climate controlled fridges on a weekly basis. it was called chocolates and creams. They were better than Godiva and had some of the best champagne truffles i've ever tasted. I'm not sure if their other chocolates rate as high as some of the stuff i've had since because it's been so long, but they're definitely good. They're the shop that put me on to fancy chocolates. They were pretty open about where they got their chocolates from (advertised it actually) and have a website, but it appears to be down. www.chocolatesandcreams.ca if it's not down permanently. You're probably find the chocolatier that actually makes them on the site.

Yea

thanks for the info

If any one knows of Belgian ones straight from belgium that are legit in the sense that they have really strict delivery policies..idk it seems like thats a sign to be good. I dont want Godiva...something I guess more unique and authentic and better. Something very hard to match here.

godiva sucks. Have you tried looking for a local chocolatier that makes them fresh? There's bound to be someone that's taken up the art in the US. I know that in montreal we have several good ones that produce nothing but hand-made chocolates. It's really all about ingredients and technique. The ingredients for fine chocolate are available to the whole world these days. You don't need to order from belgium if you can find a good local place.

Only place that comes to mind is Leonida's: http://www.leonidas-chocolate.com/index.html

Leonadis makes very nice Belgium chocolates and has retailers in most major cities. I recall the NW distributor telling me they get a shipment weekly.

I heard the same story in So Cal. I don't know how "high end" they are as I don't remember them being marketed quite the same way as Godiva, but they were certainly good.

Are you looking for bars of chocolate, or truffles/etc?

If you're looking for bars, you might want to try Chocolates El Rey, which isn't Belgian, but instead from Venezuela, and will likely blow your mind...

Daskalidès is supposed to be quite good, and not too pricey.

Of the major houses, Leonidas and Neuhaus are good choices. Leonidas is probably the best bang for the buck.

For a smaller producer, Marcolini is fantastic.

It's not necessary to have things sent overnight, but the chocolate doesn't last long on the shelf (or more specifically, the cream-based fillings really don't have a long shelf life). I would want something that could be delivered within a few days.

if your in NYC and your'e looking for chocolate truffles, you're in luck http://www.teuscher-madison.com/?gcl...FSZjQQodjjvZJQ Teuscher's of Switzerland makes the best champagne chocolate truffles*, hands down. they have shelf life of 10 days and are flown in weekly (Mondays currently). There is a shop on 61st off of Madison and a shop in Rockefeller Center, facing the rink with 5th ave behind you its on the right, but easy to miss. * of course they have other flavors but the champagne is to die for. I also really like the "nougat" (its not nougat)
