Electric Razor

Hey. This will be my first time using an electric razor and I was wondering if I need to use shaving cream or something when I shave or afterwards. The model I got is the Norelco 7110x.

I would definitely use something (moisturizer) afterwards. Maybe even something before? Here is another site devoted solely to electric shaving.

How do you like the Norelco? Im thinking of getting an electric, for the days I'm too lazy to use a blade, and have no clue what to get.

Any other electric recommendations?

Typically it takes a few days for your skin to adjust to a new shaving method. Switching back and forth between blade and electric will give an unsatisfactory shave and may hurt your skin.

I think it takes longer to shave using a Norelco than traditional shaving.

You would want to use some pre shave oil or take a hot shower before in order to soften up the hair. Otherwise its not going to cut as easy. I also get razor burn with Norelcos so i dont use them

Electric razors don't do a good job on your neck.

for serious. but i have mild acne so a conventional razor is out of the question in my opinion. or atleast for me. I've got a norelco rotary shaver. not sure which one but it does okay at best. I paid like 60 or 70ish for it, and my dad has a straight bar electric shaver, some off brand he got at target, that shaves much faster for me. I still use the rotary around the edges and what not. (mind you, using my dads because I still live with my family, i'm only 17. )

as soon as i ditched the electric razor at age 18 in favor of a blade, my mild acne went away completely.

Sometimes there are other factors at hand, such as the type of steel and its composition, etc...

Blade is always a better idea since it will result in a closer shave.

It was just the opposite for me...

Bump. Any suggestions on an electric razor?

I got to a barber on Thursday for a shave with a blade. Come monday, I get scruffy and the blade on myself is a disaster in the neck area. I'd like to switch to an electric shaver.

I have the top of the line Braun one that is always on TV. It was ~$250. It does a good job if you use it every day, if you don't you get a really patchy shave. They aren't made to cut down much more than 2 days growth. The Philips Norelco ones look interesting but who knows. It also doesn't do a terribly good job on the angle of the jaw, maybe I'm just doing something wrong.

I have shaved for years with a philishave, until i 'discovered' the blade. And there's nothing in the world that makes me wanna go back to the electric razor... It's faster, better for your skin and smoother with a blade.

anyone tried a straight razor? I don't recommend it unless you throw down for a really nice, EXTREMELY sharp straight blade and strop.
