Wisdom Teeth

I had all 4 of mine taken out this morning. I was general local anaesthesia during the procedure so I dont remember anything. I actually kind of enjoyed being put to sleep though. My one arm went numb, then there was an intense prickily feeling in the back of my neck and then I was out. I hate the damn gauze I have to keep in my mouth for the next couple of hours. It's rather uncomfortable.

At least you were out for the whole thing.

I also had that done some years ago, but topical anaesthetic. Was disconcerting as I had to go to a maxillofacial surgeon (is that what they call them) but almost had it done by a military dentist (no matter where in the world you are and what army we are talking about, I would say that a constant is that you must avoid military dentists!). I was fortunate it was too complex for a dentist

I bet before long you'll be really fed up of having soup. I am rather surprised they did all four for you in one go, it would have been easier doing them in two sessions (left side and right side).

Make sure you take any anti-inflammatory medications they gave you, your face will probably swell up like a watermelon.

When you go under it is called general anesthesia not local.
Local and topical are interchangeable terms.

That really stinks; I was lucky and none of my wisdom teeth were impacted so the dentist was able to remove them smoothly with only local anesthetic. Enjoy your swollen cheeks, I know I didn't.

That sucks... After my teeth were removed I was wheeled into a common room where all the patients are woken up. I'm not sure why, but when I came to, I had a big smile on my face and was kind of laughing. The girl beside me though was a freak show. She was thrashing about in her bed and was literally being held down by two nurses. Anyone know why that would happen? Anyways, I am in a foul mood because my pain killers aren't strong enough and I really want to eat a steak or something.

My dentist always wants to take them out, but there's plenty of room in my mouth for my wisdom teeth. I assume my tounge is a good-enough device for such measurements.

I am 46 years old and still have all of my wisdom teeth. I did have 4 other molars extracted when I got braces; I was 10 years old at the time. I remember being totally freaked out and screeming when the dentist came after me with those forceps (pliers)! I was completely awake. I was given a local anesthetic, but no Valium, or anythng else, for the anxiety. I told my mom that the "tooth fairy" (I knew that was her) should give me a lot of money for those teeth!

I have all 4 of mine. The dentist thinks that recovery for someone my age is hard (I'm 39). That's why he's leaving them in there. Or, his daughter hasn't started college yet. If she had, he'd need all the money he can get. ha-ha!

I learned the hard way that one shouldn't be hungry or driving after getting his wisdom tooth pulled.

I had to sign a waiver stating that I wouldn't drive until 48 hours after the operation. I'm also not allowed to fly a plane until 4 days have elapsed...

I had mine taken out too. It didn't hurt the first day, but the second day it was horrible. Take it easy for awhile

I had mine yanked quite late, with local anesthetic only, and just as the DMD was ready to disconnect each tooth from my jaw, he'd say, "ok...Liftoff!" What is this, is the Shuttle going up somewhere? Good guy, but that's a weird trait. Anyway, hang in there, and take care of the clots. Clots are good.

Best,
Huntsman

drugs are bad!! i remember it was kind of cold in the room before i got knocked out, and i had to take off my sweater so they could do their thing, and when i woke up and they got me up and led me to some chair i was shivering uncontrollably.
