What Style of Shoe Turns You On Most?

For me, it's the lace-up leather dress shoe with the leather or leather-rubber combo heel. Four or five pair of eyelets and I prefer the derby/ blucher type. Also enjoy the European rtw shoes the most, although I believe Alden and Allen-Edmonds are also very good shoes. Not extremely pointy designs, I probably like the plain toe, captoe and split toe style the most. I've found that, at least among the shoes I've owned, the casual rubber-soled "walking shoes" are more comfortable for long-time standing than the formal lace-up dress shoes, but I place a premium on the visual elegance of a classic dress shoe...

Low vamp loafers. Very hard to find these days. Fortunately I'm able to get used Braganos on eBay.

Women hate this style because it looks better on men than it does on them!

Tough question, because I don't go for broad categories so much as specific examples. In terms of RTW, I think the EG Asquith/PL Mackay is pretty close to the perfect shoe. I also like the EG Stowe/PL Wakely.

More generally, I like well-done monks and chelseas. I also like suede. I don't dig loafers, split toes, exotic skins, anything too pointy/stubby or anything too flashy.

I generally prefer English to Italian.

i'll second doc's sentiments. i really like the eg for rlpl mackay in edwardian. but i have to say, imo, the grant is tops. i love monkstraps. i hardly have to wear suits, but i feel comfortable wearing a monk strap such as the grant with either a suit or jeans. best of both worlds imo. next 3 shoe purchases are: 1)rlpl grant in dark oak; 2)rlpl mackay in edwardian; 3) i'm gonna get slammed for this, but barker black's bit loafer, wolfe, in snuff suede.

I've been lusting after a chisel toe wingtip with no toe brogueing like the C&J Drummond.

I like monkstrap shoes as well and buckle strap ankle boots but they have to be on a sleeker last and again I prefer a slight chisel to the toe.

I do like English and French shoes...Italian shoes are putting too much emphasis on pure look and not on quality...

I tend to like oxfords ,derbys shoes....i do not like loafers and anything with tassels..

I do hate brogues especially the heavy ones...

A very naughty line from a Mr Bungle song just made its way into my head right now.
