I ordered a few Swaine Adeney Brigg umbrellas following the tip on AskAndy. They arrived today and this one wasn't what I'd hoped it would be. I wanted a collapsible but instead it's similar to the Brigg for Orvis umbrella that DocHolliday reviewed over on AskAndy a while back. I don't need another like this, so I'm selling it.

Handle is stitched black leather. There is a small scuff (not as noticeable as in the picture) but it looks like it would be okay with polish. The sliding mechanism is plastic, and the collar is not hallmarked, so presumably not silver. I think it's probably stainless steel, as in the doorman's umbrellas. The canopy is navy. Button closure is M.O.P. Length from end to end is around 35" and the canopy measures 42" in diameter, so I'd say it's just a shade under a size 26. I'm 5'10" and the size seems fine. Doc is right that it lacks the traditional heft of a Brigg, but it does seem solidly made and is lighter and more sleek than they usually are.

I don't have any more of the less expensive ones with the sliding mechanism, but will probably have one more I'll sell. I need to see what size my sister wants, whether her fiance would like one, etc.

Shipping to Australia would probably not be cheap. These are an unwieldy shape and makes shipping a little more complicated.

We could (have) put a group buy together if someone is OK dispatching the umbrellas in the US...

Also, we should have an "ambassador" who cross-posts such good opportunities (both ways). I never go on AskAndy but some people here frequent both so maybe one of them could volunteer for that role? Maybe J could grant them the title of "AAAC/SF Ambassador" ?

There may still be some for sale, and I got the impression that they do get stock every once in a while. I didn't buy all of them.

I think the ambassador thing is unecessary. AskAndy is so much less deal/bargain focused that I think this is really the best tip I've seen. The thread only went to three pages, here it would be at a dozen by now.

Thanks for thinking about it for at least 12 seconds before shooting down my suggestion! I don't feel that my contributions are properly valued...

LOL. So, wait, let me get this right, if I have a 5'7" wingspan and I wear a 31 in APC and a 9.5 in C&J, I should size down 3 or 4 for this umbrella?
